Well, the title pretty much sums it up! ?:D

How many blast markers and order dice should I own for a typical E:A game?

NightSerpent,

I would guestimate that at least twenty to thirty blast markers are needed depending on the playtest rule edition...  :D

I don't think I've ever used more than ten order dice, but to be safe, have at least twenty for larger games...  :p

Thanks!

Is this per side, or for the whole shebang?

NightSerpent,

Is this per side, or for the whole shebang?

The numbers I estimated are for both sides.

Generally speaking, you need order dice for the total number of formations that both sides use. Generally speaking, twenty would cover most of the games I've playtested, which have had as many as 3,000 points of units. Of course, I never tried the "max out the Ork formations with tons of little formations" tactic.

Generally speaking again, in order to break a unit, you pour most of your firepower on one enemy formation until it breaks so only one formation will soak up the majority of blast markers. A SM opponent must not have realized that I'd caught on that he did that so he tried that with a big big Ork formation I rushed down the center of the field. It soaked up eighteen BMs at one point and was still going (mostly supressed, of course). He did finally break the beast, but it reformed the next turn!    :D

Meanwhile, all of my other units were untouched and unharrassed. That was when the Stomp formation came over the hill...

That was one of the more one-sided victories.

Of course, NS, I'm not up to date with the most recent edition (my playtest partner is on a long three-month work trip) so I don't know if those numbers are still good for the latest playtest rules. I keep hoping that Dafrca will pipe in since he's much more up to date with things.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
