Jervis has busy at the E-A boards today... This time its BAD news on planned model releases... ![]() Brace yourselves: -------------------------------- Unfortunately we've had to cut back on some of the new sculpts we had planned, as we'd failed to appeciate just how much work was involved simply getting the old Epic range back in production (lots of cleaning up of 'tins' to make new master moulds - boring but necessary work ) This means that some models like the Capitol Imperialis and Hellebore that I'd been hoping to remake have had to be knocked back. Don't worry though, we will get round to doing them in the end, it will just take longer than anticipated. -------------------------------- See the full thread here: http://forums.specialist-games.com/epic40k...._ID=242 |

I don't want to say I told you so, but I have said, I won't believe it until I have it in my cold wanton hands! ? ![]() Again this is my 4th release of Epic, so don't be surprised... Anything can happen... ![]() Amazingly G/W US is still spinning up Epic pieces, in some cases back to SM-1. Doh! ![]() Hang your collective heads in shame G/W UK... ![]() |

I don't want to be too much of a pessimist, but I'm not surprised by this. They're probably not going to do anything about the "moderator problem" either... ![]() Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

Hi! Well, as others have expressed, this is no surprise. The story with epic since the release of epic40k is one of lack of resources, delays and eternal promises. There is a simple basic business fact in regards to epic, it didn't make make last time around. GW has a LONG memory for this kind of things (why do you think squats were eleiminated?!), Jervis has his hands tied, he doesn't control production or distribution, the bean counters do. I make no comments as to Epic A's value as a game, it may be the best thing since sliced bread, but, as I have stated before, its going nowhere due to the inadequate resource allocation, poor distribution and poor promotion. Epic doesn't fail because any one game system is inherently that bad, its fails because GW produces the conditions for it to fails coming out of the gate. By the way Legion4, you're not allowed to say "I told you so", thats MY line... ![]() Primarch |

O.K.... I'll say, "I've said this before..." ![]() So far IMO, G/W's marketing of E-A... well... is poor. ? They are, as you said, setting themselves up for failure... again. ? Just so it lasts long enough, so that we can get some good models out of it. But based on recent news, even that seems in doubt... ![]() |

I'm sad to have to wait before getting my hand on a Capitol imperialis (this will maybe make me think again about making a scratch built one, but i wonder what to use for tracks). Still, i think this is one of the best effort we may have seen to re-make or make useable agin some old minis that new player don't even know existed one time (and some i reaaaaly like, concerning the CI at least). About E:A marketing and support, the only thing i can say is that there is absolutely nothing in france about that. The name was mentioned in an answer in the "reader's mail" in the last french WD, as a player asked for french edition and support of BFG and Epic, and that's all. I have printed myself the rules of the game to give to my GW shop, and nobody wasn't even aware it was planned. This said, maybe the game isn't planned for france (if it's not planned to be available in OZ, as it require translation for French release, i would not be that surprised if the game isn't even available here...). Had you seen some advertisment or whatever in UK/US yet ? Usually (in france that is), there is no ad campaign before the massive rolling fire of ad just before (one month before usually) the release of a game anyway ... Athmos |

The best place to find E-A information is on the net. I can't remember the last time Epic was mentioned in W/D !? ![]() |

Okay, here's a rant: I mentioned a short time ago my gaming group can't continue to consistantly play like we used to do to real world issues, which is fine because I have been really social lately. Thank god Football season has started and Hockey is starting soon! Summer is such a drag. Anyway, with all these changes coming up, I have decided to pack up some of my games for awhile except for the ones I really like to fiddle with, like Man O' War. ?I have also been wondering about the future of gaming since I have been disappointed with EpicA and then I read what Jervis has posted in the Playtesting forum: My long term (and rather grandiose, it has to be said) plans for Epic are to create a *family* of games that use a common set of Epic miniatures. These three games are: Epic: Grand Tactical Combat in the 41st Millenia. |

you could always use what GW used, the JB Models' M113 tracks. for Taz http://www.hobbycentre.com.au/JBMODL04.html for those in the UK http://www.tiger-tank.com/shop/models.php and for those in the USA http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Vault/9 ... sader.html |

Hi! Anyway, I guess the point is that I am more excited about 40k 4th edition then I am for anything going on for Epic now. Plus wth the mini release problems (which I know are not Jervis's fault) it just adds to it. I also checked out the pit fighter game and my god that looks lame. |

Ah ... the Epic saga continues... Just a history note, AT1 was released before SM1. Grunts & AFVs were an after thought. Rules for these were first released in a W/D issue around 110-116(?), IIRC. I bought SM1 before AT1 ... the whole Titan concept is still questionable, to me. ![]() ![]() |

Thanks Jimbo, this is certainly interesting, but to work on a new CI, i would have wanted a bigger set than the original one (maybe as much as 1,5 time bigger) to build a bigger CI... But maybe i will come back to the idea of just making one the same scale as the original one. Thank you very much anyway ! Athmos |

well you could use a 1/48th scale or 1/35th scale M113 as the base? I actually think a 1/35th scale could be nice. My mate Simon actually used a Crusader Tank kit. ![]() which works quite well I used, well try and guess.. ![]() |
