Hi, I'm fairly new to epic (started maybe 4 months ago) and have had some good games so far (thanks Matt/Rug!) and in conversation today I mentioned that when I got interested in epic the first thing I did was Googled the rules and the first document I found that seemed to be the place to go was this http://onyxworkshop.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/ea-compendium-2-1_en.pdf It has the game rules with all errata and FAQs integrated AND some approved lists in the back. For ignorant, uninformed complete newbie me it was a godsend. I had the rules, I had FAQ clarifications and I had army lists. I then ended up on the EpicUK site and on there the rules are in 6 separate parts AND there's an additional FAQ/Errata document separate AND the army lists are on a separate page. 7 links with one of those links invalidating certain subparts of the earlier links (errata over core rules) and armies separate (invalidating the ones in some of the prior links) is decidedly NOT newbie friendly. As part of the 'Keeping Epic Alive' initiative a few threads below this one (or above!? Who knows!) can I suggest making a consolidated rules document PDF, that includes all the errata and FAQ for the core game rules in it as well as ONE instance of an army for each race. Link to the other approved army lists to show the variety but keep options consolidated as the entry point. If you can sneak in some pretty pictures like those used in the Race codexes on the army lists page that might make it easier and more fun to read too. Then make that core rules PDF a front and center thing on the EpicUK website and add in some newbie friendly guidance - perhaps explaining what the EpicUK and NetEA and NetEpic etc. are and how Minigeddon is a good way to begin etc. |

That was a file I uploaded for the local Perth (Western Australia) community a long time ago. I probably should remove it as there is a better place to go now. Net Epic Armageddon This site has all the NetEA rules (with FAQ) in one download. As far as I know, these are the same rules used by the EpicUK community. I understand the convenience of wanting everything in one file Scutarii. |

The rules are only on the Epic-UK site as they were removed from the GW site. They are presented exactly as they were on the GW site, and I won't be consolidating them into one document. Why? Well GW legal can come and require us to cease hosting their files. And would do so to any one that had amended versions of said document. The versions hosted are the updated 2008 version so the errata is included, I will add comments to the files to indicate this. But the errata needs to be there for those players with the physical book. As to the lists they are separate as the only time they must be used is at tournaments run by Epic-UK, or other events where the TO wants to include them, if your group wants to use the core rule book lists go for it. Sorry if this comes across as a bit negative, but I'm in the post Britcon blues phase ![]() |

Oh and one other thing, every time one unit has a typo you have to download the entire rule book every time, not great in my opinion. |

I updated the NetEA site recently with downloads of all the GW rules etc. There is a bit more explanation of them which might help, maybe you could copy some of that? I'd suggest to link to it but it might confuse people since the NetEA tournament pack is also on that page. http://www.net-armageddon.org/page/rules If new players have any feedback on how best to explain the (unfortunately complicated) history of the rules let me know. I also wanted to include a definitive "history of Epic/beginner's guide" on the NetEA site that would explain objectively about the variant groups and how they relate, but I don't think the ERC was keen. Not sure though, maybe I'll ask Dave as I still think something like this is needed, something that can be linked to from many places and is as close to "official" as possible. BTW Scutarii the tournament pack is a combined PDF like you are asking for, except of course with NetEA tournament approved lists instead of EpicUK ones. Personally I prefer the separate lists, so it's just a personal preference. |

I also wanted to include a definitive "history of Epic/beginner's guide" on the NetEA site Well I think Scutarii himself has made a rather good try of this here. I don't know if it's wise to add the stuff about where to find proxies though on the netEA site. I mean we are hosting GW rules. Could they crack down on us advertising competitors on the same site? |
