We still play epic armageddon as written in the rulebook, it hasnt been replaced with anything new, we have just developed new lists for the game and tweaked the rulebook and swordwind lists to better balance them
There are two main groups producing lists, NetEA, which is a continuation of the community development Jervis set up, it is open and all inclusive and global, and EpicUK who focus on lists for the UK tournament scene, there is a lot of crossover between the two and for the most part the lists are similar
NetEpic is a totally different game, AFAIK it is a revamp of the second edition of the game, there are a few players dotted around this board but I have zero experience with it as I havent played sm2 since the mid-90s
I would say the E:A community is probably quite a bit bigger, we have an active tournament scene here in the UK (details at
www.epic-uk.co.uk) and always welcome new players, the scene is friendly-yet-competetive and nothing at all like the WAAC 40k and WFB tournament scenes
