Hello all! Iv been trying to get new people into Epic and was thinking of a higher quality video battle report with all the bells and whistles, ie high quality fully painted armies, terrain, matt and all that. Any of that is all in my reach, but the next thing I would want is a program to edit it all together. In that department I am in the dark. What kind of easy to use program would any one recommend? Also Im not sure what kind of forces I should use. I want to show off the game more then any thing but at the same time not confuse or bore them with some of the more advanced rules. So the question is how to balance the cool units that every one wants to see vs the rules they bring in to play. So with this in mind what kind of game do you think would help attract the most new people to epic? thoughts?

Hi,

This is a very good idea. I watched a series of small videos recently that a guy put together for basic Impetus. The series started right from the basics, ie kit needed, how to organize an army etc, then covered different parts of the rules such as movement, hand to hand, ranged combat etc. A short video on each subject, but he managed to cover each part of the rules in detail, and using his armies demonstrated how the rules work.

I found it really useful and informative.

As for which programs to use sorry no idea ;D

Steve

I've been incredibly lazy on all Epic fronts of late. I haven't done anything and need to make more videos, not least of which will be tutorials for new players. I just need to get some motivation now...

Keep us posted on how you get on Lord Aaron! Look forward to your next report as well Hena!

My plans are a little bit longer in term. But I plan on doing a few test video's to see what looks good/better. Just to see what I like and what the community likes. One of the things I think Ill do is keep the videos limited in length so if that means down to 1 or 2 turns then so be it. I think keeping them fast and interesting is key.

One of the other idea's that I was wrestling with is when explaining what happened on that turn/order is to say what the intentions/idea behind/possible implications and precautions of the move after resolving the move. I mean I always liked the idea of the general of the force kind of mumbling his thoughts to him self when he makes his moves. It would have to be short and very to the point not going through all the things that could happen but more a quick note on immediate precautions. Example - "2nd Tank company passes a double order and moves forwards and fires on the guardians in the forest destroying 3 guardians and leaving them with 6 blast markers." << This is a simple 1,2,3 of what happened and gives you exactly what happened, that's it. Its a bit long and kind of boring. Example 2 - " 2nd Tank company doubles forward and fires on the guardians hiding in the tree's forwards of their position killing 3 and leaving them 1 blast marker short of breaking. Concerned with the flacons near by (your name) positions his tanks to avoid potential cross fire by the warwalkers." << second is a bit longer but gives you that sort of generals thoughts behind the move. more personal, less generalness. plus the wording change in the beginning helps give the listeners the real situation telling them as the player would see it (that unit is 1 BM away from breaking!) compared to "they have 6 blast markers" < 6 BMs? so how many again are they at?.

Thoughts?
