As I am re-familiarising myself with the rules after a loooong break, I thought I would work through the training scenarios. So I started work painting up some tactical marines and rhinos (I don't like playing with unprinted minis). It then occurred to me to check through the various scenarios (7 in total) to see what my mini requirements would be (for both sides of the table):

24 bases of tactical marines
14 Rhinos
16 Predators
4 bases of Assault marines
4 bases of Devastator marines
6 Whirlwinds
8 Landraiders
10 Landspeeders
2 bases of marine commanders
2 Dreadnoughts
8 Ork fights-bombers
3 Thunderbolt fighters
2 command bunkers
3 Hydras
3 Basilisks

Plus some scenery.

All in all a lot of painting to get stated. I think I may have to use some of the pre-printed card proxies for at least one army. On the bright side the above is probably the making of a decent marine army (plus some navy support and outgunned Ork enemy).

I have been thinking if an alternative Ork army would work, I'm guessing special rules for both Ork and Marine armies would add an extra level of difficulty, but nothing too difficult.
