talking with some friends we´ve decided to begin an epic campaign, but we are out of ideas of how to organize one... any idea out there?

Hey asdepicas.

I have run 2 campaigns in the last 2 years. We've used them as tools to introduce new players to epic Armageddon as we warm up for our annual tournament.

As such, the campaigns we've run have been fairly generic in nature.
This means there hasn't been any theme or background to the campaign. In the last one, we had 15 different players playing 11 different armies. For many players, they only had the one army so it was never really going to be easy to design a themed campaign.

All the rules we used are in the link that Rastamann posted.

If you wanted to run a series of story driven battles, you would need to set things up quite differently. I haven't run (or participated in) a themed campiagn yet so I don't really have anything more to add than you can find in the official Epic Armageddon rule book on page 151. We basically played a Tournament Game League. There are basic ideas there for running Narrative Campaigns, Ladder Campaigns, Map campaigns and Tree Campaigns. The Planetary Empires set also has some basic rules for running a campaign.

I certainly hope to build up the local player base to run a themed campaign one day. I think Epic is excellent for representing this sort of thing. Unfortunately, until then I can't really add much more.

I look forward to seeing you come up with. It would be great to see your campaign details and results on Tactical Command (photos are always good aswell).

We did a PE campaign, slightly modified to work with Epic. It worked well, though it eventually died a slow death due to lack of attendance. That's always going to be the hard part; keeping people's interest. Themed campaigns can help a lot there.

I am currently running a campaign for three club members using Google Maps (so you use the real world which means no drawing up maps and is pretty realistic ;D ). The way this works is as follows. I pick a part of the world (the UK), and save four versions of the map (Umpire & one for each of the 3 players). On the Umpire's map, I plonk a number of objective flags in various places around a central location (the West Midlands, as this happens to be home). I then draw up the army lists for each player and locate their armies at an equal distance from the centre point (ie. south wales, suffolk and yorkshire). Each unit is given its own marker on the map. I then open each player's version of the map and add the objective flags and their own unit markers.

Each player is emailed the URL of their own map and can see where their units are located. They then send orders in, which I process on the central map and reflect moves on each of the players' maps. When moves have been made, players are each sent a summary and the URL of their revised map. It takes a while to work through a turn (making sure unit locatios are correct on both the Umpire and Player maps) but has worked well so far.
