Hi All

Assuming a formation is on overwatch and gets assaulted, with some of the assaulting formation possibly getting into CC on their charge move.

Does the overwatch formation get to shoot before taking any counter charge moves?

Just remember that if infantry from the assaulting formation get into base contact with a vehicle (enemy or friendly) after their charge move, the overwatch fire suffers the -1 to hit modifier.

It was extensively discussed earlier this year here. I think the consensus view was that inf could claim the cover -1 from AV's no matter what side owns them.

I think this was to be added to the master FAQ, and may already have been.

It makes sense aswell as keeping within the rules.
If a unit on Overwatch was shooting at an enemy unit that was close to friendly vehicles, it would have to be more careful with it's shooting. The -1 reflects lower volumes of fire.

Not really, as they would have to be more careful if they were close to friendly infantry, which doesn't give -1 to hit.

But the vehicles do provide cover.

Overwatch can be taken when an enemy formation end's any move in line of sight and range, the fact that they happen to be in base to base here is irrelevant.

And you do shoot overwatch before counter charges happen.

Infantry are much more easily replaced
Fact remains, the rule is as I stated.
