Post subject:  Accidentaly moving into ZOC and more?

Hello All

What are the rules regarding moving a unit into the enemy's ZoC by accident?

I know that once you have removed your hand from the unit that unit has completed it's move...

Aditionally, I assume one could move some scouts up to place another formation into the ZoC of the scouts without moving into the target formation's ZoC. I guess in this instance the opponent has to move out of the ZoC next move or engage.

This thought makes me think this is a way to remove the overwatch status from a target formation (Must move next turn).

In the first scenario, I'd say the player whose ZoC is being moved into should be watching out for these things (as should you, obviously). But since such moves can't happen, the move never took place. Resolve it how you normally deal with mistakes (I'd recommend either doing the move again or moving the units to the nearest place they could have reached without entering the ZoC).

The scout trick you mention is one of the most useful features of scouts. :) Though really any overwatch formation that you do that to is probably going to shoot you, if only out of spite. ;)

Well, as pre-measuring is the norm in Epic you shouldn't accidentally find yourself in an enemy ZOC as you can (and arguable should) measure to ensure you don't.

If you put your scout ZOC over a formation on overwatch they can use the overwatch fire as normal. However the next time the formation activates it has two options, move out of the scout ZOC or engage them.

The act of shooting on overwatch isn't considered the units activation, the setting of overwatch is.

You can't accidentally move into an enemy ZoC without an engage move; if you have and neither you or your opponent noticed till later, I guess you'd just have to leave it.

Moving scouts to within 10cm but outside of 5cm is a standard tactic to prevent an enemy formation from sustain firing, though I'm not sure how it effects over watch, though I thi k they can use their overmatch to shoot your scouts even if they have moved to within 10cm.
