Little late to the party Im sure. ![]() My 11 year old son is interested in SM and I have 2nd edition so we have been messing with that, but I picked up a copy of EA to see what changed. anyway, only got to glance at it a bit last night It would appear there is not much "history" or content on the universe for EA other than Orks and Imperials and SMs? I have been on the NID forums cuz that is what my son wants to build. Is there some fun "history" or "fluff" being created for other players? I havent had much time on the forums but Im hoping on lunch break today to look around and see. GW website doesnt have much. any thoughts for an EA noob would be appreciated. ![]() |

it's essentially just the standard 40k background as the two games are set in the same universe...... you could probably do with picking up some of the relevant codices and perhaps even some BL novels if you want to get immersed |

There is also http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/ which has details of the various Hive Fleet invasions and battles. |

Maybe start him with a "Heros of Space Marines" its a handful of short stories. |

he does a little I like to read what is the BL novels? Is the material ok for 11 year old boy? Many of the comic books these days is pretty bad IMO. Some are like light porn, and I dont want that being put in front of him. |

Black Library is the division of GW that produces fiction set in the Warhammer and 40k universes. You can get them through the GW site or in just about any bookstore. Some if it is fairly violent, but there's little that would be new ground to the average preteen. |

http://www.blacklibrary.com I don't recall any sex scenes at all, nothing worse the everyday television. I know some (few) novels mention porn, like "Troopers X was got with a porno slate and a some liquor and was hauled off to see the Commissar" or "I left my aid alone for the day while he watch his porno slate and had a sandwich." But there no pictures or graphic detail. My best recommendation is to read the book first and then him to see if your ok with it. Then you always talk about the books too. I usually get mine at Barnes and Noble, rarely at a GW store. |

Desert Raiders, one of the Death Watch books (the first I think) and Warriors of Ultramar all have 'nids. |

Which one was that? I have read ALOT of BL. lol. Thinking about getting rid of some of mine since I'm getting a Kindle. Interested? |

Ya, that sounds more like Warriors of Ultramar. Dead Sky, Black Sun is more graphic, yes. McNeill's other UM stuff after that wasn't nearly as good though. I remember Fists of Dorn which followed some scouts who were left as bait for a Slanneesh warband I think. That was a struggle to finish. I got 20 pages into Roberson's DoW II book and put it down... |

I really enjoyed both Inquisitor Omnibus and also a big fan of the Ghosts series. But I would say my favorite might be Commissar Cain! Great laughs! |

if it's still available Ian Watson's Space Marine has about a third of it dedicated to a boarding action on a tyranid ship..... |
