I'm organizing an Epic Campaign at the Central London Club and we've had 9 people sign up which is great. Unfortunately, the campaign has teams playing against each other in 1:1 GTS games and we now have an odd number of players. In order to get everybody playing, it'd be great if we could also have the occasional 2 vs 1 game but what's the best way to go about this? Shall the joint armies being run by the 2 players still get their freebies like the free Ork Warlord and the free Avatar? Can Commander abilities be shared across armies? Does the other army get a BM if they see the Avatar being killed? I just want to make this as fair as possible while still getting everybody playing every week.

What about a different scenario? Maybe one that uses a unit recycling mechanic to allow the 1 army to get reinforcement. Or give the 1 army a significant amount of defences and make it a siege game, possibly with unit recycling as well.

I think you will have trouble balancing 2v1 using the GT scenario, its just not designed for it, a different scenario is my suggestion.

thanks

This would be one 3k army vs two 1.5k armies. But the army freebies and interactions kinda spoil this.

Ahh. I misunderstood, I thought you would be having 2x the points on 1 side, ie 3k vs 6k. You could say that just 1 of the 1.5k armies can take freebies, ie ork+eldar couldnt have warboss and avatar, so just 1 freebie/3k.

I think it's pretty well recognised that mixing armies buggers up balance
eg Guard + Space Marines

If you're not too worried about that (and it's a friendly campaign after all) then go for it
Otherwise someone brings in an army and the formations are divided up between the two players?
In this case perhaps the team captain decides which army is being used.
