Just a quick question.

Is there an "on foot" version or house rule for the imperial regimental hq? Sometimes especially in smaller games, the mechanised hq eats up to many points, so an infantry version of the hq would be nice.

The core guard list is essentially a mechanised one, but there are varient lists which allow on foot supreme commanders.

Note that it is deliberate that a supreme commander is too big an investment for smaller games.

Officially no, but you could house rule one, say 100 points more than an infantry company.

That's the house rule I've heard before too. 350pt for a foot RHQ.

Ok thanks, 350 points sounds reasonable.

I am going to look through the alternative lists too, as I was thinking of an infantry heavy list my next game.

I'd be 100% fine with someone using a 350 point non-mechanised Regimental HQ and may myself sometimes. There are no good reasons for not allowing it and, regardless of the Steel Legion on Armageddon being mechanised, the designers really should have made it optional in the standard rulebook list originally IMO, so that it catered for all sorts of Guard (not all of which use Chimeras) just like it the rulebook caters for all sorts of space marines and orks.

Krieg is a great list, but their siege army is a lot different from standard guard, with various new units.

The Steel Legion list is supposed to be the "mechanized infantry" list, but there's really nothing but the mechanized HQ that is uniquely "mech inf" is there?

The 350 pts infantry HQ is a quick fix, but it does add a cheap supreme commander to the list, something that could be considered superior is some situations (maybe if you want lots of activations and to have the SC and the BTS in different formations?)

Maybe one could make a quick "Generic Infantry List" by adding the Infantry HQ and replacing the Mechanized Infantry company with a Mechanized Infantry Platoon (6 infantry, 3 chimeras, support formation, 175-200pts), or adding mandatory units to the Infantry HQ so that costs about the same as the Mech HQ? (Or both.)

There's an on-foot infantry HQ in the Vraksian Traitors army list, as that army was supposed to be light on mechanised forces (Indeed Mech. Inf. is only available as a support formation).

Baran Siegemasters is a nice list, and I´ll try Cadian Shock Troops for the elite theme.

Thanks E&C & Bruno, Ill definetly take a look at those lists!
I mainly use the steel legion list because I am still quite a noob and I would like to know how to use the base list first before moving on. :) Thats why a foot hq for the SL would come in handy in small "rule reminder" games for me.
