Almost certainly a stupid question i know, but played a game over the weekend where it came up and we couldn't find a definitive answer:

Troops in rhinos are close assaulted and unable to dis-embark.

When the Rhinos are destroyed, do any troops inside that also fail their armour save and die count as a "kill inflicted" for the purposes of combat resolution?

Technically, they weren't killed in close combat, but they simply died as a result of it, if oyu see what i mean. Ended up making a big difference to a combat.

Yep. Any kills count, including transport kills, critical hit damage (whether against the WE or if an explosion effect kills an enemy), and so on.

The formation was in an Assault ('close combat') and the passengers removed as casualties- where's the confusion.

To try to argue otherwise must have taken impressive nerd-rage.
