Crashing accidentally onto epic-battles.de I've suddenly realised we're not alone.

well, i knew that, I'd heard mentions of the french version of the Nid list ( differnet structure ?) and that the metagame is rather different in each country's tournaments.

Since I'm a stupid monoglot, the other epic communities are a little mysterious. I can translate something if i'm given it, but casual browsing or specific searching are out of the question.

it also seems a lot of effort in scratch building, terrain, list creation and balancing discussions is being unnecessarily duplicated. While everybody does this as a hobby, and so presumably is happy to give their time, and given Grandma's occasional fits redundancy* is also a good thing, surely at least knowing what is happening elsewhere in the world would be a good thing?

Is there anyway this could be improved? An occasional newsletter, a new army book, EPIC: France?

*when did playing epic become so like a clandestine protest group?

When half the models produced for it ended up being built by fans. :D

I don't think there is much duplication mini wise, i only know of one direct duplicate ( 1 here, other french) *(for more recent stuff, so ignoring all the older monolith attempts etc). And everyone seems to have tried making CAD buildings (the Germans just got on and actually did it). I imagine most of those concerned keep up to date with the 3 main forums.

There is an Eng translation of the French rules compilation somewhere, it was a fully updated document + all race lists i seem to recall? had a nice summary sheet as well.

Given that on this English board netea and EpicUK both duplicate many lists already i cant see that going very far, i think the French are the only group with much of their own rules/list?

*edit

Well, I'm French but I'm not very aware of the activities of the FrERC or the French community, specially as I originally was an active member of the SG forums back in the game development phase (I speak of the long gone blue forum), and after its death I naturally became more tied to the anglophone community.

However I'm starting to get interested in what they're doing (as well as the German community, but I can only google translate in that case since I can't read German). Maybe I'll end up acting one more "bridge" between the communities (I know there are several taccommers, more or less regular, who already are active in the FR community, some very active even). But as I'm much more familiar with tac coms and i don't even know the French name of some GW stuff, that might take time :)

Yeah. Maybe a specialist dictionary for Google Translate.

It's good enough 80% of the time, at least for the German Forum. Just the unit names and short hand for rules really.

At least Abattoir translates easily. :)

Well on the german board we usually use the english names for units and certain actions.
And if in doubt just ask one of us and we will translate :)
