So the Fortress flips and lands on the marines, doing them one hit each and they all die.

As this is taking place during the assault do the casualties count towards assault resolution?

We said yes.

Hmmm, not really covered totally in the rules.

You get +1 in assault resolution for "For each kill you have inflicted during the assault".

It could be argued either way, but I think I'd go with your call too.

Well, criticals are resolved when they are caused, in this case as part of the hit allocation and saves step which occurs before Assault resolution. So IMHO it is clear that all the DC 'killed' in this way are included in the assault resolution, together with those nearby units that also died in the explosion.

If it's during the assault, i.e. attacks have been rolled but resolution has not, I think the casualties should count for resolution as well.
