Can Terminator detachments that include Dreads still teleport?

Page 37 of EA rulebook

2.1.17 Teleport
Formations where all of the units have this ability may be
kept off the table, and can appear at the start of any turn.
Simply place the unit anywhere you like on the table at
the start of any turn, before determining who wins the
strategy roll.

now if only Dreadnoughts had Teleport that would be cool !! :))

Doh!

So now I'm seeing why you might want to put Terminators in drop pods...anyone got the verdict on that debate?  :))

The verdict is a no :p

Basically, dreads aren't an excellent upgrade for terminators. Dreads are only really any good when deployed from drop pods.

In E:A because of their limited transport capability and limited mobility, Dreads really have only two roles; bolstering a static defense (as part of a garrison); or bolstering an air assault (in a THawk or Landing Craft).

Devastators upgraded with Dreads and Hunter is a 'classic' garrison, while Tacs upgraded with a Dread in a THawk is quite good (but not really as good as 2x formations of Devs / Assault marines).

You can try Termies upgraded with Dreads in a Landing craft for an Uber-assault, (possibly by planetfall to avoid death by AA), but that is not generally considered one of the better combinations either.

Wasn't there a contentious discussion recently about amending Terminators to be able to use Drop Pods instead of Teleport if they choose to? (because I think they are meant to be able to in the newest W40k codex now while certain chapters are afraid of or don't like teleporters).

If that were allowed - even if just as a fan house rule - then Dreads could happily drop pod down with them, would seem fine to me and give more opportunity for the under-used dreads to be fielded.

I believe the latest space marine codex actually disallows terminators from drop podding...

*goes away and has a look at a copy for the first time* Oh yeah, you’re right! Ignore me, thought I’d picked that up as second-hand info, but must have got mixed up.

Not True! Terminators are allowed to pod. Look at pg. 102, termies are restricted from rhino's or razorbacks, but otherwise count as two models. Then look at pg. 69, the transport capacity of a pod is 12 models, a thunderfire cannon or a single dread. So up to 6 termies are allowed into a pod (one character plus a squad).

So you CAN pod terminators (you should be able to, as old deathwing armies used to pod their termies down). It's fluffy too, as some chapters don't use teleporters (Space wolves? not sure).

That is actually there to allow a character in terminator armor to join a podding squad (or two normal ones).

Drop pods can only be purchased as dedicated transports, they're not a separate unit entry, and Terminators don't get that option.

Yup, you're right, my bad. Took a better look at the rules. Man, that sucks, termies should be able to pod. Love your WWF avatar btw!
