What's your favourite way to represent a commissar? In particular when the commissar is attached to something that's commissar model unfriendly such as a bombard or a vulture? |

I've seen several people pop commisar models on small coins or other marker and then simply place it next to/on the base of whatever it is the character is being added to. R> |

Agreed, cut a base in half, stick the Commissar in the centre of 3. Paint up. Just put him next to the unit in the formation. A lot easier and cheaper than having spare Guard, Leman Russ, Shadowswords, etc painted in Commissar colours. |

I have command stands with and without commissars and a few spare tanks and vehicles with commissars included, but I also have 8 mini round stands of commissars to put on/next to vehicles when I'm at a tournament. |

All my tanks are numbered in roman numbers. And my commissars allways join the "I" marked tanks. And for infantry, I put my commissars in the commander unit. |

Round my way we play with 1 Commissar per 500pts, so you can model your army and plan exactly how many commissars to have, that way Commissars can always be modeled on / the tank painted appropriately. |

We use a stand of 5 Commissars and purchase Commissars based on SM2 ... And on some Command stands I have a commissar figure. If you paint the figure in ... say a Tan Coat and hat ... he's just a commander ... ![]() |

For infantry I made command stands both with and without Commissars included. Commissar Leman Russ is black with Commissar in commander's hatch. The Commissar on seperate coin attached to a particular unit works well too. For other vechicles if you don't want to paint or model them specifically for the Commissar, it's simple enough to drill a small hole hole in the hull or turret that is just large enough for a straight pin. Paint up an appropriate Commissariate flag attached to straight pin and mark the vehicle that way. The flag is removable whan not occupied by a Commissar. |

For my infantry I have extra (basic inf) stands with and without Commisars to show them attached to the unit, and I have a Leman Russ modeled up to have a Comissar sticking out of it. I'll probably mount Commisars to coins or small washers to represent the remaining "floating" commisars however. |

I am using the 1/500 pts rule as well. Makes it easy to plan when you start assembling. So far, I have only painted commissars for my companies, which will all have one, but I plan on building small dioramas that can be placed next to artillery or other pieces. Infantry Company Commander with Commissar: ![]() Leeman Russ with Commissar (tank also painted in black->shadow grey rather than adeptus->stone wall grey): ![]() Plain Guardsman with Commissar (leading the left file): ![]() /Fredmans |

1/500 points for me too. So Commissar models hanging out of Leman Russ etc similar to above. Great work on those by the way Fredman ![]() |
