Post subject:  Differences between Handbook 2008 and official FAQ

Having used the Handbook a lot to introduce the game to new players, since it is a document with not only rules changes but also armylists and unit stats, I wonder what changes did not make it to the FAQ.

On Commander, I find this paragraph about defensive intermingling, which I cannot find in the FAQ.

There is a rule for Disposable, but no units with that rule. I see it is a variation of the Grotz rule and could possibly be used to describe how summoned Daemons work, but the force charts never mention it.

Macro-weapon barrages are treated like normal barrages for hit purposes.

The Demolisher did not change to MW4+.

Are there other differences I should be aware of?

What Hena said.  There's not really a consolidated "change list".  Most of the core rule "tweaks" were done.  None of the new stuff was added.  Most of the army list changes were rejected for fear of someone showing up at a tournament with a list that had been made illegal.

However, we do have a new integrated rulebook that incorporates the 2008 Errata and FAQ.  We're down to a couple of technical issues in trying to get a final, formatted version.  Once we do, we're sending it to Jervis and he has agreed to post it to the GW website.

That would be great. I love the concept of the handbook, which makes for a great introduction.

That would be great. That would give the Handbook (or Rulebook?) actual credibility.
Is it possible to do the same with army lists? At least with one for each force.

And then a fairly serious question. Why can't one make functional links to GW?

The & signs in the URL and the ikon forum software don't play nice.

GW legal document says you are not allowed direct links to documents, you have to link to the folder or home page. All to do with "bandwidth theft" according to GW legal.

Heh.  If "bandwidth theft" means "loss of marketing opportunity" maybe.

Heh.  I think that is the exact translation in corporate-legalese.
