Does it really matter what size base you use for objectives? As I have a lot of the titan bases I was going to use those. Then I thought maybe one or two (because of the model I want to place on it) really only needed a flying stand sized base.

So does it matter if I mix and match objective bases and are titan bases too large?

thanks

As Hena suggests, Objectives (and Marine Drop Pods) do not have a physical presence on the battlefield, so measurements ought to be made from the centre of the marker, especially if they are as large as you are proposing.

Agreed that the Objective should be measured from the centre point, but there is no actual rule enforcing this.

As a result, in a tournament for example, if you bring very large, scenic objectives some opponents may measure from their edge, and so your unfairly penalised.

Ditto, I always measure to the center of the objectives, so the size doesn't matter.

But what about the drop pod models? I always wondered why no one ever bought those. I have a pack. Did I waste my money?

I like using Titan bases for objectives. They're big enough, but not too big.

I actually have both 'closed' and 'open' models. I use the closed pods to indicate the plotted point, which I then move to be my target position. This then gets randomised, and I place the Open pod to show the actual landing position (removing the closed pod). The open pod is then used to measure Deathwind attacks etc.

Although they take no further part in the game, I usually leave the open pods on the table 'cos it looks nicer. IMHO, having Pod models is most usefull for measuring purposes while the formation is landing, so I don't think them a waste of money at all.

I didn't know there were any closed pod models. Are they old models or something?

As far as I know, yes. The 'closed' versions look like golf balls.

Yes. Open and closed drop pods were released for SM1.
