Can its heavy bolters attack anything? It only has an AA value, but bombers can't CAP or Intercept. In what situation can they fire at aircraft? |

I was just looking at the formations, didn't notice 4.2.2 Thanks. Edit: Actualy I just checked over it again. It says on a ground attack action it can attack a ground formation, and then its turn is over. Doesn't say it can attack an air formation as well. Can you point it out to me? Edit again: Nevermind, I could've sworn flak attacks were only for ground units firing at aircraft, not aircraft too. My mistake. |

So then, in that case... If something takes a CAP action, and then intercepts a formation, what happens? It says it happens before flak attacks, so do they shoot the enemy formation before they're able to shoot back at the interceptors? |

On Bombers (like the Maurader) AA is purely defensive. The Twin Lascannon have AT attacks, while if it gets close enough, it drops bombs using Barrage templates that can affect both tanks and infantry (check out 1.9. ![]() When fighters attack enemy aircraft, the target aircraft get the chance to defend themselves before the fighters attack. The same principle applies to ground targets that use defensive AA to protect themselves. So in summary the aircraft sequence is:- 1. Bomber flies over the table 2. Enemy fighters on CAP fly to attack the bombers 3. Bombers (and appropriate ground AA**) shoot at the fighters 4. Surviving Fighters (and appropriate ground AA**) shoot at the bombers 5. Surviving bombers complete their mission and shoot at ground target **Note When flying over the battlefield, any ground units with AA capability that are within range of the flight path may fire, even if the aircraft ends up outside the AA range. |

Thanks for clearing that up. I guess sitting a squad of thunderbolts on CAP isn't as viable as I thought, sounds like they'll likely just get cut to pieces before they do anything. |

Depends on the circumstances, though Thunderbolts are usually best employed to clean up broken formations. |
