I wonder if this would work better as Wiki page ... I'll go see if I manage to format one up .

I was thinking that as well.

This 2K Eldar list is expensive

Pts    USD

         $20   Epic: Eldar CotYK
50              Wraithgate
--                Avatar

        $40   2 Warhosts
                    6 Anti-grav platforms

150            Guardian Warhost
--                  -3 HW Platforms
50                -3 Support Platforms
100              -2 Wraithguard

300             Aspect Warhost (choice)
75                    - Autarch
200    $34       - 4 Waveserpents

200              6 Jetbikes

390    $34   6 Fire Prisms
300    $34   6 Falcons
175    $17   3 Night Spinners
1990  $194

The Avatar and Wraithgate could be dumped and 25 pts spent on an Exarch, saving $20.  This list uses 15 bases, so the 5 extra bases could be applied to Rangers for 125 pts; exchanging for the Night Spinners 50 pts cheaper saving $17.  The Waveserpents could also be dumped; an even point trade for War Walkers, but saving another $17.

Here's my try at a 3000 pts Codex Marine list (note that I do not play them myself or at least haven't played using that list before - I play Blood Angels, whose list I'll also try to post in the future)

Assault + Chaplain @ 225 (#1 Battle Company + #2 Character Pack)
Assault @ 175 (#1)
Thunderhawk Gunship @ 200 (#3 Thunderhawk Gunship)
Thunderhawk Gunship @ 200 (#4 Thunderhawk Gunship)
Terminators + Chaplain @ 400 (#2 + #5 Terminators)
Terminators + Chaplain/Commander @ 400 (#2, #5)
Devastator + 2 Dreadnoughts @ 350 (#1 + #6 Dreadnoughts)
Tactical + Supreme Commander + 3 Razorbacks + 2 Rhinos @ 475 (#1, #2 + #7 Razorbacks + #8 Rhinos)
Warhound Titan @ 275 (+ #9 Warhound)
Thunderbolt Fighters @ 150 (+ #10 Thunderbolts)
Thunderbolt Fighters @ 150 (#10)

3000 points

#1 £11.75 Battle Company
#2 £9.80 Character Pack
#3 £11.75 Thunderhawk Gunship
#4 £11.75 Thunderhawk Gunship
#5 £11.75 Terminators
#6 £6.85 Dreadnoughts
#7 £11.75 Razorbacks
#8 £14.70 Rhinos
#9 £14.70 Warhound
#10 £14.70 Thunderbolts

Total £119.50 or about $165 US.

Rhinos stick out like a sore thumb especially as here you only use two from that very expensive blister of six (though no doubt uses can be found for the rest in the future). Mk1 plastic Rhinos can be very cheap on eBay so it pays off to look around. While you're at it, keep an eye open for Mk1 "shoebox" thunderhawks which, albeit much smaller and, to some (strange) people, ugly, can also be had for much less than new GW models with just a little bit of patience and luck.

If you're feeling brave or don't plan to face a lot of aircraft and have access to Forge World goods you can also drop the thunderbolts and instead of metal GW Warhound for £14.70 buy two FW resin models for £17.60. You can use up the remaining 25 points in the list by adding the fourth Razorback to the devastator formation if you intend to garrison it.

As well as starting forces how about some an 'advanced' army list suppositry? I keep most of most 3-4k setups as word documents and I know Epic UK has started to record what armies people use each tourney too.

A "welcome to Epic" supplement project might be cool.

Perhaps Chroma could adopt it as part of his Scenario project?

That would be a cool idea, an Epic primer.

Chroma has several .pdf starter lists. Hopefully we can entice him to either include it in his supplement or at least post the .pdf files here.

Would anyone have anything for Black Legion and Lost and the Damned?

This would indeed be awesome. A mate of mine wants to get started at between 1,000 and 2,000pts of Black Legion or other Chaos Marines force—what starter army list would the Chaos players out there recommend, and what would he need to purchase?

Thanks in advance. :)

Army Forge will save/generate armylists online:
e.g. a randomly-generated Black Templars EpicUK force. (randomly generated meaning me being random... a la monkeys typing shakespeare.)

http://traitor-legion.appspot.com/chooser.html?list=SM_templars_EPICUK&force=...click%20to%20edit%20name...~508~61x1~503~51x4~512~515~503~51x4~501~15x5~506~21x4~514~37x1~500~503~51x4~502

To be clear, this is a useful tool for tabulating and storing army lists, but not much help in putting together good army lists -- this monkey can't be much help there.

:-).

Army Forge is truly awesome. A very handy tool, particularly once you know the armies well enough to know what's what and what each brings to the party. :)

But for the Chaos n00b, what would be a good, competitive 2,000pts starter force? Which Chaos Marines list would you recommend?

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but it has been stickied. I was wondering what a good starter force for Lost and the Damned would be.

I'm hoping to start out with 1000pts, if that is even playable.

Also, are any force with combined arms going to be reasonably good (for instance if you want to fit in a particular theme) or will I suffer if I don't include certain specific choices (for instance Hellhound tanks are the ONLY way to win against a heavy infantry enemy).

Thanks for posting up this thread, I'm reading through the E:A rules just now so this will be very helpful.

Out of interest, if there any players who have played this version and Epic 2nd edition rules, I'd be interested to know if they found E:A was a faster game to play. I'm guessing it may well be because of the fact that there is no orders phase and also that with the rules on suppression of fire, fewer units will have the opportunity to fire each turn (in Epic every unit can fire unless they are on Charge orders).

PMs welcomed, I know this question is very much off topic.
