just one more little thing thats niggling me.

just how many bases can you put in a drop pod.

is it just 1 base, so would i need 6 pods for a tactical unit?

In EA a drop pod mini represents a couple of pods carrying the whole detachment.  That lets you spread your minis further, but its not as cool as the older way where you literally sprinked the pods over the battlefield!

1 drop pod per formation.

re-read the drop pod entry in the SM list and then re-read the Planetfall rules in section 4.0.

repeat the procedure described above several times  :(8: . Eventually it will make sense enough and you will feel familiar enough with it to play it on the table. Or at least not get put out when you opponent does so... :8:

It definately makes for a much more desperate game!

but as to your actual question the 1 drop pod model is an abstract representation of all the troop, support and decoy pods that would be launched to safely land the troops. the rules for the thier placement and the troop dispersion are similarly abstracted to save time and keep the formation's unit within coherrency when they appear.

this is explained quite well inthe drop pod entry in the SM list, but since you asked this is my two cents.

hope it helps.

BTW.: When You deploy the Pods how many are Deathwinds? And is that right that Every Unit in Range gets Hit once from Every Deathwind? Do I have to Roll to Hit or do I get only to Save?

Cheers!

Steele,

think of the attack as if it was a 15cm radius template weapon.

every enemy unit  (XXXedited for wildly incorrect referencesXXX)  is attacked. The owning player rolls to hit, any allocated hits can be saved if possible.

<<>>

as stated the 1 pod model represents sereral models, but each formation gets one deathwind area attack.

The rules are for the Orbital barrage to attack all units under the template but for the drop pods it is written that all enemy units are attacked and was confirmed by jervis as correct on the old forum.

Indeed.

Place one pod.

Roll to attack all enemy units in range.

Then deploy from that marker as described in the unit description.

And lo the Scout barrage was born.
