Post subject:  Wow, what a great time...

Just got back from a game night. It was great to look down the line of tables and see three other EpicA games going at the same time mine was. This is the first time al of the group have made it at the same time.

It is very late so I am going to go crash but I took some pictures (do not know how many will be worth showing) and I will share some of the things we came upon in the rules later.

I just needed to share right now. :D

Cool
Hopefully this is a sign of things to come, and Epic:A will be very popular.

Thanks for sharing, Dafrca.

I'm not really happy with GW right now or the development of the E-A system, but I still do hope it will be a success.

By the way, which armies were playing on the various tables?

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

OK, I have had some sleep.

Here is the games played this week:
Game #1 Orks vs. IG - Orks won
Game #2 SM vs. IG - IG won
Game #3 Eldar vs. Bugs (Using a fan list from Yahoo Groups)
- No clear winner when we stopped at 11:30
Game #4 SM vs. Guard - IG won
Game #5 IG vs. Bugs - Bugs won

OK what are some of the General things we learned:

1) Having a titan as 1/3rd your points is a mistake.
2) Fan Based Lists are not as balanced as those made for the game by the designers.
3) Assaults seem to not make sense in all cases.
4) The person with the most formations seem to have an advantage.

Here is a couple of pictures:

Marines in trouble:

Nice Landraiders:

Ork Hord waiting to cross the line "onto" the battlefield:

IG (Yes I know they are unpainted) sets up to start the pounding:

Marines attempt to hold the line:

Some of the Swarm:

Anyway, it was a blast!

Just a side bar, if you look at the complete set of E-A rules, you'll see that they mention a number of new models/figures that are in the game but at this time do not exist.  We know almost all the SM vehicles will be re-done to mirror the 40K models (+ a New CI) !  IG - Snipers, Storm Troopers, Valkyrie, etc.  Orks - Guntruks, Gunwagons.  Chaos - Raptors, Obliterators, Defilers.  Those are some off the top of my head, and most were not mentioned in any news letter, IIRC.  Even if the rules don't attact a crowd, I think the models will.  But as I have said before, we'll have to wait and see ... I'm not going anywhere !  :D

That is fair enough, but I STILL want to know where the IG Defender went?  :L

Also, I will be buying as many Razorbacks as I can before they produce an Epic version of the terrible 40K tank!  :{

so it wasn't just me who thought the new Razorback was, well, a big pile of pants...

...and I was actually looking forward to seeing the new model, as I thought the new Predator was a vast improvement on the old model.

Jimbo,

I agree with you:

New Razorback = Japanese Manga toy with remote control turret.

New Predator = Very cool tank, looks a little like an Israeli Merkhava MBT.

Yes, as I said before, the Epic models will probably look like the New 40K models. ?So I imagine the new Razorback will look the most recent 40K version with the unmanned remote-controlled turret ? ?That makes an SM2 and an E40K version that exist (got 'em!) with the E-A type coming out in 2004 ? ?I made my own Razorback before SM2, using a Whirlwind MK1 hull plus a L/R MK1 turret with the barrel replaced by an Eldar grav-mount las-cannon tube. ?Like I said the SMs will get almost all new updated vehicle types including a drop ship ... better save my $ ? :D ...

I didn't notice until today, but Carl has updated his workbench feature of his website and on it he has some nice pictures of Epic40K infantry and CHimeras he has painted up as a 'Steel Legion' Armoured Fist Company.

Very nicely done, go and have a look

It started out being inspiring...then became demoralising as I realised I just couldn't make my own and have it look like that. :(

I feel your pain.  :D

I too often look at these kinds of pictures and think, how mine will never look like there stuff. Then I go and play a game using the stuff I have and realize I am still having fun.

Helps make me feel better!
