So, okay. I saw the Minervan Armored Legion army list in the Raider's download, and loving the IG treads as much as I do, I decided I would try starting up an army. But, being me, I didn't want anything 'normal' for my armored legion, I wanted something special. That special thing would be a 'line-breaker' type of list, centered around assault and siege tanks such as the Demolisher, Stormsword, Stormblade, and Conquerors.

Going onward,I already have put in an order through my bunker for the super-heavies, but was quite dismayed to find out that they do not make the more common tanks such as the Leman Russ and Demolisher. I was even more dismayed to find the the Demolisher was a whopping $20 for three measly tanks from GW. This leads me to my current question, Are there any good-looking conversions or alternates for the Demolisher tank? Or am I looking at an even bigger hit to my wallet to make this themed list?

If your set to use the FW stuff just get Vanquishers to convert in the standard Russes and Demolishers. Trimming the barrel down will make nice Russes and some plasticard tubes will be good enough for the demolishers.

The real problem I think you'll have is coming up with sponsons. If you're good with plasticard you could make some and see if someone around here would be willing to cast it.

Heh, the problem would be is that I am not all that good with plasticard or Greenstuff. If I was, it would be rather simple. It took me awhile to just get a conversion for a 40k Deathstrike Launcher done. I could, of course, make the Demolishers and Leman Russes without the sponsons, but good aesthetics and WYSIWYG is important to me.

Another option, much as I dislike it, is to simply drop the demolishers from a major role in any of my lists, just how effective are they on the tabletop?

I think there is enough tank choices in the Minervans to overcome a lack of Demolishers. A simple adjustment of your tactics is all that it would require, and it would be a subtle one at that.

You should be just fine.

Ebay is always a good choice, however, as is www.chaosorc.com or Bartertown.
