The answer might be burried in a FAQ, but I thought I would ask, since I can't find it. how many infantry units can gain cover form being BtB with an AV or a WE? The cover save text box gives no limit, but I have always played it as 2, or 2 per DC. Am I getting this confused with how many units may engage another unit/WE or am I right? It just seems silly that 4 or more friendly units can hide behind a tank, but only 2 enemy units can try to hit it in close combat. |

Yup, I've always played it as 2 per DC. It's the only sensible option. |

I have played it with no limit. But usually there is not much possibility to have more than two stands per AV (except with orks). Also limiting cover to two stands prevents all those units having cover which are transported for free. (mandrakes, grots..) |

After discussions on this forum about six months ago, we've always played it with DCx2. |

You will find most points covered in the thread highlighted by Hena a few posts up. WE transport does provide a slight inconsistency by carrying more than it can provide cover, but I guess you can rationalize this by suggesting that the bulk of the transport WE is actually off the ground, so the physical cover provided is reduced |

Here's a related question, that I don't think has ever been answered: Do infantry units get the cover bonus if in base contact with an enemy AV/WE? This can happen when overwatch is fired after a charge move. |

(Hena @ Apr. 18 2008,12:55) QUOTE I'd say no as 1. It feels "gamey" 2. I seriously believe that hugging enemy tank is harder than friendly as you will have to worry a lot more about it trying to run you over or attacking with other point defense means. I agree with you, but it's certainly not clear in the rules! *laugh* |
