Hi all, I was reading the Gaunt novel Necropolis (yes, I know it's been out some time now, and that no ork Landas feature in it) and was impressed by the siege engines used at Verhunhive. ? ![]() Now I was thinking: 1.- Would anyone be interested in using rules for ork siege engines? 2.- How about modelling these - or has anyone done so already? I had these immediate ideas: 1.- Ork siegewagon - same rules as a Battlewagon, ?but no troops can be carried, and a siege tower or obstacle demolition charge/obstacle removal plough/minesweeper added instead; can be purchased at same points as normal Battlewagon as an upgrade for a Warband [ ![]() 2.- Ork siegefortress - same rules as a Battlefortress, ?but the Big Gun and two twin Big Shootas are lost, and a siege tower or obstacle demolition charge/obstacle removal plough/minesweeper added instead; can be purchased at same points as normal Battlefortress as an upgrade for a Warband 3.- Ork gun siegefortress - same rules as a Gunfortress, but two Big Guns are lost, and a siege tower or obstacle demolition charge/obstacle removal plough/minesweeper added instead; can be purchased at same points as normal Gunfortress as an upgrade for a blitz Brigade; Supagun option lost. 4.- Ork Siege Stompa - same rules as a Stompa, ?but weapons limited to two Big Guns and a siege tower or obstacle demolition charge/obstacle removal plough/minesweeper; can be purchased at same points as normal Stompa in a Stompamob or as an upgrade. 5.- Ork Siege Supastompa, Gargant, Great Gargant - one weapon system replaced by a siege tower or obstacle demolition charge/obstacle removal plough/minesweeper; can be purchased at same points as normal war machine BUT - a troop carrying capacity is added ![]() 6.- Siege (wait for it) Landa - A Landa with D3+3 gun turrets and no rokkits; replaced by an armoured prow, or demolition rokkits [ ![]() That's it. I'd appreciate any ideas on rules and modelling, especially on rules for demolition charges, ploughs etc., and comments. These rules would obviously apply to friendly games. You wil have noticed I prefer to rplace weapons or payload rather than change other statistics or points cost. What do you think of this - ah - strategy? ? ![]() Cheers! |

Interesting concept, we use the rules from SM-1 & SM-2 for clearing/laying mines and clearing obstacles. ? Every Ork, Chaos, etc. vehicle, with a roller, claws, plow, etc., we gave mine and obstacle clearing capabilites based on those rules. It makes tactical sense and is kind of "neat" too... ![]() |

iI would imagine a demolition charge to have the TK special weapon rule, maybe also give it the slow firing rule, since it may need setting up. Thing is, I see weapons such as soopa gunz etc, being powerful enough to knock out defences or walls. So I dont think there's a lot that needs doing there. A troop delivery system would be nice. I'd say a capacity of 8 max (for a GGargant). I have no idea how to implement an of this though ![]() |

Hi! Nice ideas vanvlak. I especially like the siege battlewagon. Would you mind if some of these made their way into net epic? Primarch |

Vanvlak, I like your ideas, but I'm not sure if removing capacity or weapons is the way to go. Why not just include the Siege stuff as upgrades and charge more for it? 1. - Ork Siege Wagun: - Same rules as a Battlewagon, but no troops can be carried, and a siege tower or obstacle demolition charge/obstacle removal plough/minesweeper added instead; can be purchased at same points as normal Battlewagon as an upgrade for a Warband [Would you include this upgrade in a Blitz Brigade as well as if it's troop carrying capacity is lost?] |

Hi guys, thanks for the feedback. No problem re net epic, Primarch. Maksim, I replaced stuff because there is only so much stuff a vehicle can carry before it has to be made larger and slotted into a different category - for example, from Battlewagon to Battlefortress scale. Orks would HATE to lose weapons, but then again I think of a Battlefortress as a Gunfortress which has lost some guns for troop carrying capability - this applies to the Gargant idea too. re CC weapons and siege weapons - fair enough, you're right there - but I was thinking of stuff designed to breach walls rather than cut a Titan in half (!!), or demolish roads and airfields and bunkers (happy thought - a Stompa ploughing up a runway). The Landa (owww - I should be on therapy!) armoured prow would pemit it to act as a brute Ramship in BFG. Warmaster - I was toying with the idea of an assault pod too - nice to see I'm not the only nutter around ![]() And the Corvus rules are in the 'old models' list too. (no Korvus though ![]() Re nature of demolition weapons - I was thinking more of short range demolition mines, bombs etc., combined with skorchas and a transport capability. Another possibility would be a Battlewagon-size vehicle with the sole task of delivering a large explosive charge under a Titan. The siege tower idea has a large vehicle (a Battlefortress type?) with a large ramp at the back and a tower on top for getting troops into tall buildings or over defensive walls - or for assaulting a Titan, or a capitolis Imperialis! These specialised items would be used in siege scenarios, with non-tournament rules, and also with rules for walls and large fortifications - and Imperial weapons such as cleansing flame cannon or something, for clearing enemy troops off a wall. Ok, time for my medication. ![]() |

I guess re-releasing the old epic nid range will work just fine now - the new 40K nid range is orignial TYRANID rather than 'Aliens' ripoffs. The 40k Tyranid Codex is out in May, can't wait to play them, and then get working on the epic version! Jervis wants a final nid EA list by the end of the year as they are planning on much earlier re-releases of nids and chaos ranges apparently. A final list by October means we will have our work cut out for us! |

Hi, Looks like you'll need some thick gloves to carry these! ![]() I can't wait for the next lot of Epic stuff to be released. After my huge Ork army is finally done, I've always planned Tyranids and IG next. Cheers, Freshmetal |
