Post subject: | Two rules questions (linked to flyers) |
These two arose today. As usual, I have interpretations for them but would love to hear other interpretations and why... 1. can empty flyer still air assault (engage or "advance"). ("yes"). 1.b. but is this limited to flyers with transport capability or can others too? ("no") 2. if a flyer does an air assault and ejects troops to engage enemy and enemy has Overwatch, which happens about 'coming under fire' blast marker (remember, flyer and all ejected formations are counted as being one formation during assault. Actually commander combined assault is similar situation) a) flyer and every formation ejected gets a blast marker b) only one formation gets this blast marker (which one? closest? the originally activated, i.e. the flyer?) c) all get one, but during assault they have total of one extra d) overwatch formation decides what original formation of the combined assault it shoots at, and that one gets the blast marker (then of course it can only hit units in that formation...) e) something else, what? I guess it is "d" for this, althought there is reasons why it could be some other choice.. |

This question (and a number of related points) were discussed in this SG thread The answer to your particular question is that the BM for coming under AA fire is assigned to the Transport, while the BM for coming under OW fire would be assigned to the formation that is closest to the firer. However, the transport and the troops it carries are considered a single formation for all purposes (shooting assault resolution etc), so the entire formation tests on each occasion. BM ?assignment to the individual formations is purely for tracking purposes, and may result in the formations having different numbers of BMs when they split up at the end of the assault. |
