If an unit with inv. save fails a dangerous terrain test, can it use its inv. save?

No. Invulnerable saves do not protect against failed terrain checks.
Whether you come at it from the terrain rules or from the Invulnerable rules, neither allows a save. The dangerous terrain check rules state the unit is "destroyed" and there is "no save allowed" which is the same language used for destruction by lost assaults and withdrawal moves, neither of which allows Invulnerable saves.
The Invulnerable save is written in terms of saving against "attacks" where a save would normally be allowed, with an explicit exception for attacks that negate saves. It doesn't say it functions against just any kind of destruction.
