Do titan weapons that give the titan extra CC (and/or FF) attacks project those attacks in whatever direction it sees fit or do they have to be projected in only the direction of the weapon mount the weapon is mounted in?

Example: A Warlord titan is mounting a Chain Fist in its right arm weapon location, which has a "Forward" firing arc, that allows weapons mounted there to fire into the front 180 degrees.  Is the Chain Fist allowed to make CC attacks against any enemy unit in base to base contact, or only those that are toughing the base in the front half?

Supporting material:

- I could not find any reference to this in the rules for firing arcs, assaults, or war engines in assaults.
- The Special Rule: Weapon Fire Arc rules state: ?Most weapons can be fired in any direction (ie, the unit does not have to be pointing at the target).  However, in some cases, a weapon will be noted as having a limited weapon arc.?  (Only a GW game would take the fundamental basic rules section of firing arcs and make them a ?special rule.?)
- In establishing the firing arcs of the weapon mounts for the Warlord, Reaver, and Warhound the firing arcs of the weapons for the various depicted patterns were used.
- The "Mars pattern, Deathstrike Weapon Configuration" Warlord shown on page 146 of the Epic: Armageddon rulebook has a Power Fist that does not have a firing arc mentioned for it, yet neither does the Deathstrike Missile mounted on the carapace.
- None of the other Imperial titan weapon patterns show the use of a close combat weapon.
- The Eldar titans do no provide any guidance since they all have a special rule stating that due to their agility they may fire all around.
- The Ork Gargant and Great Gargant each have a CC weapon that has a ranged attack weapon mounted onto it; their respective firing arc notes are in reference to the ranged attack and do not mention the extra CC attacks.
- The Ork mega-Gargant in the Collector's Section of the rulebook has a CC-only weapon that has a firing arc associated with it.

Thoughts?

Judging by the lack of responses I guess that titan CC weapons do only project their CC (and FF) attacks into a certain arc.  Herr Avatar appearing on the hindquarters of Mr. Reaver would make for a bad day...

I'm going to consider it done that the CC and FF weapons on titans do adhere to firing arcs...

I'm guessing that fire arcs do matter for CC and FF, because there's is nothing in the rules that says they don't. Not that I necessarily agree with that interpretation. I tend to view firing arcs for arm weapons too restrictive in general, but that's another issue.

Actually Chaos titans have fire arcs on some assault weapons. So one could suppose that the same applies to AMTL with assault weapons. Certainly with titans the arcs could be used. For smaller vehicles, I think it would be too small a detail to worry about.

Can Titans turn around on counter charge if they are contacted by WE? If not, then that might come as nasty suprise to AMTL titan armed for close combat if Avatar engages from rear :D.

I assume you'd have to double-DC to prevent countercharge movement, ala trapping troops inside?

It's a stretch, I admit. :D
