Remember that Epic: Swordwind includes a part in the Campaign for the Raven Guard - for whom you use the Astartes list in Epic: Armageddon.

So leaving some room for pre-existing published armies is not too much of a problem.

That's fine, but there's no need to squeeze something for every possible army in a suspicious Medusa sort of way. :)

Which is why the EoT campaign worked - there was enough thought put into keeping the players happy without having needless overlapping of opposing forces.

Look at the Tau - the mini-campaign they were given led to the Third Sphere Expansion, and an explosion of Tau-related goodies! All without trying to fudge them into the main campaign.

So, with enough care, the right balance can be struck.

Battle over Cadia would fit good. ChaosSpaceMarines, LostAndTheDamned, CadianShockTroops and Ulthw?Eldar would fit nicely in this campaign.
Hey you could easily throw a couple of Codex SpaceMarineChapters and ImperialRegiments in it without writing new army list.

How's the Space Wolf army development these days? Wasn't Logan in command of imperial forces?

I still think Cadia and the Black Crusade is the best option.

BL
L&D
Cadian IG
Ulthwe
Possible SM chapter

Plus, it sets the stage for a future titan supplement with 2 settings for opposing WE-oriented armies:

Legio Victorum/OGBM from Armageddon
Legio Astorum/[Chaos titan legion of choice] from Cadia

I think that the Grey Knights and Ordo Malleus do fit well there - and the models are available or easy conversions apart from a couple of aircraft or war engines. With a reasonable deadline, I can get the Ordo Malleus Inquisition Task Force ready with pretty pictures and all.

A "Storm of Iron" supplement could be done too (for all who have read the novel).

IronWarriors ChaosSpaceMarines
ImperialGuard
ImperialFists SpaceMarines
LegioMortis ChaosTitanLegion
LegioIgnatum (FireWasps) TitanLegion

I wasn't thinking of limiting the action to Cadia itself, but allowing players to fight out battles across the sectors involved (ORk players can join in at Scarus, and so forth).

The hallmark of Epic books so far has been to limit the action to a single planet / conflict, and I'd be hesitant about breaking away from that.

We'll see...

(If the Third Sphere fluff from JG is used - as I hope - there will be fighting in at least three sub-sectors, which will open the door for crossovers with BFG as well!)

I'd think that picking a single planet from the third sphere campaign would be best, or even just writing a new planet and using the third sphere campaign as a backdrop (Thus allowing the writers to better-tailor the forces involved in the suppliment).

I suggest this as a good course because nearly every GW suppliment takes this form these days (Epic rulebooks, 40k campaigns like Medusa, all Imperial Armour books from Vol.3 onwards, etc), and it's actually quite a good form IMHO to focus on one specific element or planet of the wider wars.

So you tell the history of a single planet's war, not the entire Third Sphere (Which is just too damned large to tell in detail in anything less than a Doomsday book).

Bear in mind that many of the worlds in the 3SE were relatively small in terms of population, and even the larger ones are very, very far removed from the gigantic populations seen on Armageddon.

Have you read the 3SE campaign yet? It's really good...

And I should point out that this is the 3SE as it affects this particular region, there are other areas (such as those involving those new Tau Septs talked about in the Codex) that are not covered. So this is at best a sub-set of the entire Expansion.

IIRC Taros had a population of only 1 million (Maybe 100k, can't remember offhand), yet it had enough different armies fight over it for a whole Suppliment on its own (Several types of IG, two Chapters of Marines, Tau, Gue'senshi).

So the world may be small, but you can still bring in every needed army for a suppliment, and it helps focus the plot (We all know who wins the Third Sphere Campaign... but who wins on xxx planet... and how many individuals died in the process?). A single planet helps keep things personal.

It also lets us tailor the list a bit.  To include for example your elite Gue'senshi: The 1st Kleistian Grenadiers we will need to say why they are there, go over the list throughly, and figure out if that is what is needed in the list - instead of the Alaitoc list.  I am of the opinion that there needs to be 3 different list - very different from each other.  Just my opinion

Absolutely! I would be offended if it went somewhere else!  :D
