Quote (Legion 4 @ 23 2005 July,04:35) | CAP is kind of the modern version of the term ?! ? | IIRC, the term "Combat Air Patrol" was first used in WWII.

Yes it was however, CAP is the more commenly used term then "High Guard" today ... in most military circles ... Just like the NATO terms "Fire and Maneuver" and "Fire and Movement" in the US Army ... Close ... not the same, IIRC ...

DCA is the most accurate modern term for the concpet. OCA (Offensive Counter Air) is a fighter sweep over the objectve to draw off or neutralise the DCA before the strike aircraft come in.
Of course, most people still say CAP and everyone knows what they mean!

I'd rather not have anything to do with an IED or STD !

Leave the IED on the FLR, send the CEV forward to deal with it, while I move from the MLR, to "Brass Hat" territory to get an STD ?
The questions is what this has to do with CAP, DCA, OCA, GAM, SNAFU, and WWATCF, and the growing power of aircraft in EPic-A?
Just curious

Oh and to bring the topic back slightly, I do not think the present system will allow for a sane and fair discussion of the power of aircraft, so I expect it to keep shifting until they have to redo the whole aircraft rules over. That is the GW style afterall.

Before Fury of Champions Jervis was chatting with some of us early arrivals and he did say that he was thinking of changing parts of the aircraft rules.
He was looking at transport aircraft and having them drop off troops and not staying on the field. A similar evac rule would also be added.

Daf/L4: Thanks for the info. I'm not big on air combat history and had never heard the term.
Tiny-Tim: I can confirm that Jervis has sent modifications to that effect to the ERC. They were generally well-received.
