The size thing really isn't a problem for me ... but it is obvious.

There are some direct comparrissons between FW and Citadel SHTs on Epic40k.com.

One set under: Articles / Reviews / FW Super Heavies:
http://www.netepic.org/EPIC40k/html/fwbladesreview.html
and the other page is linked from the base of the previous

(should have been under the showcase gallery, but on checking it out, the link is wrong and goes to my Citadel Baneblades not my FW ones  ??? )

Hi!

I think if you play epic in any of its forms the variance in size through the years is quite obvious, but not wholly annoying. The epic line has not been noted noted for its adherence to scale (old knight-sized demons and chaos primarchs), while sometimes they do look "funny" next to each other, its never been a huge point of contention.

Actually on the netepic list we just came up with stats for the different size models of the same unit, quite fun actually.

That sure is nice terrain, Jimbo...

- Do you have a "How I made my terrain" section on your website?

I had a look but couldn't seem to find one...

I have written an article, but it isn't on my site!

You can find my article at

Making Scenery

haven't had a chance to add it to my site yet.

I got lost in there!

well it is quite big, even I get lost in there sometimes...

:D

I have an article on my website

Bigger and Meaner - Alternative Rules for the Forgeworld BaneBlade Models

The resin model of the Imperial BaneBlade is quite a bit bigger than its metal cousin. The standard rules indicate that you treat them the same and give them the same stats. One possible option we have tried and works is to give them six damage points. Apart from that they are treated the same as their metal brethren. Points wise, we actually left them at 110 points as they are in our opinion overpriced anyway.

http://www.felixent.f9.co.uk/epic40k_rules_01.html

Another option is to use the 360 rule...

Hi!

That's a similar approach we used in the netepic revision. Instead of replacing older versions we either created a "upgraded" version or a "variant" in the same category.

Intriguing...some examples to hand perhaps?

Rule 360 is a good idea, Jimbo. I like that concept.  I'm a big SM1 fan, but E40K proved to me that the Firepower system can work.

Hi!

For example there is the older larger Tyranid Hive tyrant and carnifex and the newer "smaller" ones. We made the larger tyrant a "tyrant" queen who is more powerful than the smaller hive tyrant.

Same with the Carnifex, the larger one is now a "super-dreadnought" more in keeping with a knight class unit.

In the eldar list the old tempest remains as is and the new tempest model (Cobra?) is a variant tempest with more firepower.

Those are what I remember off the top of my head, once the revision is done I'll see how many more were done.

It was a good compromise to keep all miniatures "valid" in epic.

We did the same with the Big Carnifex and small Carnifex plus others as well.  We loathed the 40K scale Primarchs & G/Deamons, that they were passing off as Epic !  Those were just too over the top for us.  More G/W skullduggery ... like I said, sometimes they look like they don't know what they are doing !   :{

Rule 360 is a good idea, Jimbo. I like that concept.

We also use the rule with Ork Battlefortresses.

You can imagine an Ork Battlefortress with FP 24 and a maximum range of 15cm bristling with Boyz and Ork Gunners but no Heavy Weapons.

Or imagine a specialised Battlefortress armed with a long range weapon - a range of 90cm and a FP of 4.

Another perspective on the 360 rule is that you could split a Super Heavy Tank into two lots of 180, therefore using my Ork example, you would have two weapon systems one of FP 12 at 15cm and one FP 2 with a range of 90cm.

I'm a big SM1 fan, but E40K proved to me that the Firepower system can work.

I do also like the FP system of Epic40k.

Yes, I like that concept, and it certainly make things flow better in a fairly large game. Add activation and I think those are two mechanisms that will make a very playable game ...

OK, guys - I've recently been trying to assemble an Ork army "on the cheap", giving myself a budgt of ?150 and buying from eBay and general second-hand stuff. Eventually, this should form an article for my site, once everything is obtained, with an update when it is all painted.

Anyway, I was going through what has arrived so far, and realised I haven't really got any ideas on how to assemble this into a respectable Ork army, so was hoping y'all might be able to help.

I guess the best place to start is to post a list of what I've got, ain't it?

NB: This is just what has already arrived there should be more stuff on the way in the post, too.

Firstly, I've got stuff from one auction that has already been "themed" into three clans - Goffs, Bad Moons and Evil Sunz. These figs have had a start made on painting them, but most aren't finished.

Goffs

4 Stompas
16 Battlewagons
5 Warboss stands
2 Nobz stands
1 Stormboyz stand
16 Boyz stands

Bad Moonz - this box also included a lot of random spare, unbased, figures, which I have yet to include in my ruminations.

12 Battlewagons
4 Nobz stands
15 Boyz stands (I know for a fact this includes one Wildboyz stand, mind you)
4 Dreadnouts (from the Stompas box)
9 Big Gunz (there are definately more than this in there, unbased, though - 5 Traktor Kannon and 4 Shokk Attack Guns)
2 Boar Boyz
1 Warbikes

Evil Sunz - this box also included a Kult of Speed
Evil Sunz
6 Battlewagons
3 Nobz
15 Boyz

Kult of Speed
5 Warbikes
10 Warbuggies

All of the above came from one auction - amazing what you can pick up for ?10 these days :)

Other stuff I've obtained:
9 Skorchas
3 Pulsa Rokkits
1 Doom Diver Magna Kannon
2 Gun Wagons (1 x Brain Crusha, 1 x Bone Cruncha)
3 Mekboy vehicles - 1 speedsta, one with a set of rokkits on it, and one with two guns (looks like a Speedsta w/ kustom kannon))

So, how do people think I should go from here?

Sounds like a great start.
I suppose the first thing is to organise Da Boyz into warbands, with the required extra nobz and it looks like you're going to have to break out the rice
Other than that really all you seem to need are flyers, some truks and a couple of stompers
