I think onslaught is very much safe.

As far as I know (am I wrong?) they haven't tried to go after avatars of war yet and those minis are much closer to GW stuff (especially the dwarfs with pointy hair) and AoW targets the customers of one of their main gaming systems.

I think onslaught is 100% fine, however this example is not ideal, the idea of fantasy dwarfs has been around long before GW made their range, and virtually all the archetypal fantasy races are in the same boat, elves, orcs, goblins, evil men, vampires, trolls etc, these are all virtually impossible to copyright

a hovertank which belongs to a group of commie aliens who use drones and big battlesuits is less (well, slightly less ::) ) generic than a fantasy dwarf or orc.... still I would be very surprised if GW had a leg to stand on, and plan on picking up a good portion of the range to use with my own space communists! :)

I sure hope Onslaught is safe. Mostly I'm worried because if you're a really big company, you don't need to prove your case and win in court. Just open proceedings and win by default, because it's too much work to fight against. It's not like GW has a history of showing restraint in this.

I'm a pessimist by nature though. I'm not seeing a whole lot of concern around here, so I guess it's just me.

*mod hat*

With that, let's change the topic back to the demise of SG and its implications.

While the discussion has merit in general terms, I feel having it in relation to a single manufacturer is unfair to that manufacturer, whomever they may be. We know GW must pay attention to these boards from recent events.

Please note that Onslaught has an active thread here, despite the IP policies outlined here. This should give some idea of the confidence the mod team has in their IP.

If you wish to have a more general discussion about how the demise of SG will effect GWs approach to any manufacturers that fill the vacuum created, feel free to start a new thread.

Thanks,

Good question. I think they would try other games in 6mm, as long as they had similar models etc. It would be good for as well. Any suggestions on not an overly complicated set of rules?

If you like the Epic Armageddon ruleset (and I do) then you don't really need to switch rules; just find some miniatures that you like to go with them.

If you're pissed with GW the company's actions don't buy anything from them. There's no need to throw the baby out with threat water or though - no need to encourage people not to play EpicA or get into GW background, as you can introduce both without paying a penny to GW (40k wikis, literature off a pirate ship, 3rd party models). I lost all faith with GW the corporate company long ago but I'm still passionate about the game universe and fully intend to be still playing EpicA for decades to come and recruiting new players where I can.

This works. I haven't bought anything but some FW flyers since... I dunno, '09? And with the upcoming EW Marcovian flyers I wouldn't even need that now. Oh, WM Skaven too. Stuff that there simply wasn't a model in the same ballpark as, but nothing else.

Yes. Especially as we don't want to suffer the MOD wrath of SG, who has already warned us to SoT.

So anyone get any last panic orders? I got my two Thunderbricks over the weekend. Contemplating actually getting 4 transporters for the hell of it.

I received 6/6 GW orders and 3/4 FW orders. From GW, only Sentinels and a Scorpion went missing, but was re-funded. On a sadder note, one ForgeWorld order had a bag of Tau fliers mixed up with an Undead Battle Standard Bearer. If anyone wants it, it is yours for postage costs.

Tried to order a BFG Vengeance Grand Cruiser a week ago, and had it pulled out of my order because they didn't have any (it said ships in 3 to 4 weeks on the website)

Checked yesterday and it said ships in 24hrs, so ordered one, and payment has been taken and it has been dispatched.
Looks like they found a dusty box somewhere (or lied to me the first time...)

A number of posts removed. I dislike doing it; we usually do such a good job of being appropriately off topic...
