Jimbo and others,

Have you seen the new E-A Feral Orks list yet?

They have three types of Squiggoths (Lesser Suiggoth, Squiggoth, and Greater Squiggoth) as well as a...

STEAM GARGANT!

Has anyone thought about how to build a Steam Gargant for the Feral Orks yet?

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

P.S.
Jimbo,
Have you thought about your Ork Bomma concept lately?

I havent read the list, but one part instantly comes to mind.

The boiler from the back of the old Empire Steam tank for WHFB.

Actually, make that three items come to mind (as I type)....

The Old Stormboyz 40K jetpacks could make good boiler stacks, as could the parts from the Skaven Globadiers perhaps(?)..

Just a few random thoughts......  :D

Yes, I have seen the new Feral Orks list and have all of the newest downloads.

I find the Feral "Junkatruk" an interesting concept.

I wonder if we'll see a new model? ?

And if we'll see new Squiggoths as well? ?

I never believe anything until I have it in my hands. :;):

Great ideas, thanks!

The boiler from the back of the old Empire Steam tank for WHFB.

I thought about this wonderful piece too. Kr00za used one on the back of one of his Gargantz.

The Old Stormboyz 40K jetpacks could make good boiler stacks, as could the parts from the Skaven Globadiers perhaps(?)..

The Old Stormboyz jetpack is nice, but that hunk of lead is now PRICEY!

I love the Skaven Globadier packs. I think they'd look nice on a Stompa's back.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

hey more squiggoths... yeah...

I really like the concept and have no idea of how to build something original... all I can think of is just attaching a steam engine to a Gargant.
Jimbo,
Have you thought about your Ork Bomma concept lately?
Well I tried to buy some FW Maurauders at Bristol Conflict, but they FW didn't bring any Epic stock with them...

Hi!

Aren't ALL Gargants "steam" Gargants?

They do have boilers after all...

Or is there a difference?

Primarch.

Wow! Good call, man!

And here I thought they were powered by Squig Beer... errr... ummmm... juice! ?

Seriously speaking, that's an interesting aside. We don't really know how those beasties are powered. They do have smoke stacks that bellow ugly black smoke so I figured they were internal combustion polluters. Steam engines usually billow white'ish smoke if I remember correctly.

Then again, the fluff mentions boilers, doesn't it?

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

P.S.
Jimbo,
Please do share photos of the Bomma that will never be.

Hi!

The boiler room is a "hit location" on the Gargant template. I always assumed they were powered by coal, because old fluff mentions using gretchin to power the boiler room.

Steam would be a step back and very in character for Feral Orks.

Primarch.

OK. That makes sense.

Coal boiler = black smoke.
Steam boiler = white smoke.

Hi!

The question is, do feral orks indeed have enough "tech level" to make steam powered engines?

They seem to be into axes, swords and rock throwing stuff.

But it IS a cool idea though!

Why does it need to make sense? These are Orks after all. Guys who seem unable to build reliable vehicles and yet make space flight capable ships.

There is/has always seemed to be an odd mix of "high tech" and "low tech" in the 40k orks. At least that is what I see. Why should the Feral Orks be any different?

Just a thought  :;):

Yah, any other army and I try to make things "match" the level they seem to have already. IG is about WWII, Eldar lots of Anti-Grav etc.

But when it comes to Orks, for some reason, I do not mind the mixed and odd combinations. Advanced weapons and pre-industrial age creations in the same army.  :D

Such is the way of the Ork.

Yes, the Orks would use what they could get their hands on and that works... ?

Sammies in Somalia, the Taliban in Afghanistan, the Viet Minh/Cong...

These are low-tech forces using technology beyond the capabilities of their regional to develop...

They sound like Orks to me.

Primarch.

There was also a scenario now you mention it, "Fight for Coal Mountain" or something like that. The SM's had to stop the Orks ferrying coal from a stockpile to their gargant before they could start the beast up and blow them all to hell & back.

So it appears we've all got excited over an idea which we've actually had available for years........ Oh well  :-:
