Currently assembling a Big Boarboyz unit, as well as attaching 10 War Buggies/traks to bases, and sanding the bases of 4 Dreads and 4 Shokk Attack Gunz.

I've got a random 2-armed metal dread - Killa Kan, anyone?

Next question (after the 2-armed dread one on the previous page) - how big would people recommend running the Feral Ork Boarboyz Mob at? AS I said, I'm assembling a "Big" warband (12 stands), but I do have more Boarboyz in my "tub of loose E.Ork figs", so can probably add some if I wanted to expand the formation to 'Uge, or split it to 2 smaller formations.

Thoughts?

You have two limitations that I can see. ?You don't have enough grots to do a mainstream ork army and you don't have enough buggies or other appropriate raw material to make tons of trukks for a speed freeks list.

Of course, while you have some boarz, I think you're nowhere near a respectable feral ork army.

Just as a note, what sort of numbers are we talking about for "enough" with regards to buggies, and what d'you think I'd need to add for a Feral Ork force - going through what I have, I think I can make 2 Big Boarboy units and a Trappa formation at the minimum, while I've got around 20 Warbike stands - and I've lost count of the number of "Ork InvasioN" war buggies I have.

Here's a thought - I could use the "Ork Horde" battlewagon as a Trukk, as oppossed to as Battlewagons - and I have a *lot* of these things, chief :)

>> Just as a note, what sort of numbers are we talking about for "enough" with regards to buggies

Well, if you are using them as a base to donvert into Trukks, you will need 4 per mob (multiplied for big/Uge), plus whatever you want to field in KoS units.  My Speed Freek army has ~24 trukks and ~16 buggies/trakks and I'm looking on eBay for more buggies.

>> what d'you think I'd need to add for a Feral Ork force - going through what I have, I think I can make 2 Big Boarboy units and a Trappa formation at the minimum

That's not a bad start but it's only 600-700 points with upgrades (nob on the trappas and wyrdboyz on the boarz).  Your limit is going to be (again) the grots if you decide to field any warbands.  If you go with junkatrukks you don't need the grots, but you will need trukks.

>>I've lost count of the number of "Ork InvasioN" war buggies I have.

Tell me about it.  The darn things are everywhere.  Unfortunately, they don't make for very good conversions.  I have considered using spare boarboyz to make sort of buggie-chariots to use a junkatrukks, but I haven't pulled the figs out to compare closely to see if it will work.  I'm actually holding out for the new junkatrukk models because I think they are great.

>> Here's a thought - I could use the "Ork Horde" battlewagon as a Trukk, as oppossed to as Battlewagons - and I have a *lot* of these things, chief

That could certainly work.  I decided not to do that because the battlewagons are significantly bigger than a trukk ought to be and I'm picky about that sort of thing.  If you decided to do that, you might be able to tool up to field your stuff as Speed Freeks and still have enough models to field a boarz/junkas feral ork army - Feral Speed Freeks! :p

Actually, I have heard of people using ground coffee. If you grind it yourself, you can even determine the courseness of the grain.

Legion:  Yeah, there will be 4 or 5 new releases for FO, a total of 6 iirc, but I'm hoping for 7.

New, definite:
Junkatrukks
Squig Catapults
Orkeosaurus
Steam Gargant (a box, I'm sure)

Older:
Squiggoths
Boarz (newly in metal)

Hoping for:
Madboyz/Wyrdboyz

Hmm - any recommendations for painting Boar Boyz, now I've finally gottena round to undercoating the 12 stands?

Also, my Mekboy Gargant Supa-Stompa just had its trip to the sandpit, along with 4 more Stompas, and some more Ork Gunwagon-equivalents (forgotten the name)

I use washes for my Boarz. Spray basecoat white and then use different coloured washes to get various colours of fur. Snakebite leather, black or grey. there's lots of possibilities.
Once the wash is dry paint the ears and snout of the boar flesh colour and the tusks white. Then you can proceed too paint the rider whatever colours take your fancy.

I think there's a pack of madboyz/wildboyz. From what I could tell from the Swordwind pics there's some new boyz wearing furs and some with poity hats...

Cheers! :)

*Sigh*

Shame I'd undercoated them black, really.....
