I'd suggest using Plastistruct/Evergreen/equivalent plastic stock.
You can get thin rod and also hollow tubes in all sizes. Use some sheeting for a shoulder pad to cover the joint, and make a simple male/female socket with rod and tube plastic to slide weaponry in and out as required.
I cant say I've tried this before as it's only just occured to me - but the next time I put together a titan I'll certainly be giving it a go!
It probably wouldn't work too well on a verticle joint, but since the Orks use arms protruding horizontally, this shouldn't be a problem.

I'm thinking about Gargant arm / shoulder joints out loud:
Resin Great Gargant Mk.I (AT-1) - vertical shoulder mount and horizontal weapons Resin Great Gargant Mk.II (AT-1) - vertical shoulder mount and horizontal weapons Metal Great Gargant Mk.III (AT-1) - vertical shoulder mount and horizontal weapons Metal Great Gargant Mk.IV (TL) - vertical shoulder mount and horizontal weapons Metal Great Gargant Mk.V (E-40k) - horizontal weapons and shoulder included on body cast
Slasha Gargant Mk.I (SM-2) - vertical wepons mounts and no shoulder (Slasha) Gargant Mk.II (E-40k) - horizontal weapons and shoulder included on body cast
MegaGargant Mk.I (TL) - It has shoulders! It has mostly vertically mounted arm weapons and a horizontally mounted shoulder mount weapon.
Mekboy Gargant Mk.I (SM-2) - Horizontal shoulder weapon and no arm mounts since they're included on the body cast
Metal Stompa Mk.I (AT-1) - 1-piece cast Metal Stompa Mk.II (AT-1) - ?1-piece cast Plastic Stompa Mk.III (SM-2) - 1-piece with vertical arms Plastic Stompa Mk.IV (E-40k) - ?1-piece with vertical arms
It probably wouldn't work too well on a verticle joint, but since the Orks use arms protruding horizontally, this shouldn't be a problem. - Tuffskull |
Hmmm... almost all Gargants use horizontally mounted weapons. Good point, Tuffskull. I have little magnets to use so that making weapons interchangable in the vertical plane isn't a problem.
On the other hand, I was wondering about shoulders of which few Gargants or even GW Ork pieces period have many.
I guess I'll have to scratch-build them!
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

They're Orks, the construction can be a bit "shoddy"...

Anyone building scratch Gargants out there besides Kr00za?
I'm particualrly curious in people building E-A Ork units like the SupaStompa and Supagunz.

I was thinking of mounting a suitably modified Basilisk gun on set of Battlefortress tracks with a whole ton of bitz with a big dozer blade on the rear (like real US SP FA) to stop the whole Gun from jumping back because of the huge recoil... ?

Thanks for the heads up mate, its annoying to have all the threads spread out...
Though not as annoying to be reset to zero posts...well as much as it will matter to one person anyway

Another change? Sometimes I think they want to hide those forums..... ?
Hopefully it will be the last relocation.
Primarch | This one included some major changes. I guess software was changed or upgraded. Either way, I too hope this is the last for a while.

Are you saying you want quality over quantity or that the forum is that way and that is why you do not like it?
Sorry, could not resist...

I'm not looking forward to having to reregister myself. Now that I'm less into the playtesting, I'll never get decent numbers again!
I might have to do the PG-thing and make lots of one-line posts and copied-and-pasted answers that other people wrote. It could build up my numbers...
He doesn't do that stuff as often any more!
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.
