Athmos, check the "Saving Guardsman Ryan" link if you're talking about Amphib Ops! ?

And I bought some G/W Lizards and some Pendraken Dinos, just to have grazing Megasaurus herds to go with my Darian primeval jungle death world terrain pieces. ?

"It's a jungle Out there!" :o

Hi!

The Pendraken models are pretty neat and cheap too. If I ever got into Warhamster (aka. Warmaster) I'd probably use Pendraken line of 10mm.

From the E-A Playtesters Board, in case you guys didn't see this one pertinent to this topic:

------------------------------------------

My long term (and rather grandiose, it has to be said) plans for Epic are to create a *family* of games that use a common set of Epic miniatures. These three games are:

- Epic (E-A): Grand Tactical Combat in the 41st Millenia.

- Adeptus Titanicus (AT): Titan vs Titan battles.

- Air War (AW): Squadron level aerial combat in the 41st millenia.

I produced Epic first mainly due to necessity - there are lots of players with Epic armies out there, and I wanted to cater for them first of all. AT and AW will follow later as and when we get the time to make them.

I love aerial combat games, and have been playing them in one form or another for almost 30 years now, so the thought of being able to do my own game on the subject has a lot of appeal, and that means I want to write it myself. I'm hoping to get some test rules up next year if I can, but don't hold your breath.

- Why squadron level?

Well one of the things I've learny reading about aerial combat in real-life is that while Hollywood may fixate on aces and one-on-one combats, the reality was that it was the best trained *squadrons* of aircraft that usually won. The 'lone wold' ace was something that was really only seen early in WW1, and by 1917 all of the early lone wolves were either dead or had learned that they needed to act as a part of a team. The art of aerial combat at the tactical level then is not how well you can fly your plane, but how well you and the rest of your comrades can act as a team to defeat the enemy. So far no aerial combat game has really captured this, but it's what I'd like my game to reflect, if at all possible.

With regard AT, I think that Gav's rules really only need an update and some more development work to get them to a finished state.

As with AW I hope to get an updated version of the rules up in the vault some time next year. Once the rules are up we can start to test and develop them as we have the Epic rules and army lists.

Best regards,
Jervis Johnson,
Head Fanatic.

Oh yes, he also stated later that the air war game would be a seperate game, but use the same miniatures as EA

I don't know how, as I believe I read anything on the official board (maybe it was on the old one?), but I missed those "officials" details on this. Thank, TAS!

Ah, something else: I don't know who edited my post (Maksim or Shadow Hunter I assume), but thanks anyway for making it clearer and corecting my awful expression and typos!

Athmos.

Hi!

That would be pretty cool is they could release a a main epic game and more detail subsystems that meld into the main game. Difficult to pull off, but a very worthy effort.

You're welcome.

That all sounds great, three Epic scale games! ?

But before we start buying rounds of drinks to celebrate... let's wait and see how E-A does. I wouldn't be surprised to see the release date of both the rules and models pushed back, based on recent information.

Just a little "reality" to to keep everything in perspective... :blues:

Well, enthusiasm is all well and good, but if we all go to that quiet place in each of us and really be honest, we all know that Stormseer's statement above IS what will transpire.

All I'm curious about is how much WILL come out before the bottom falls out.

If anyone doubts it I'll take bets and odds.  }:)

Which opens up a much larger issue:-

Why does epic, or most other spin offs, never seem to break the mold and become on the same "level" as WHFB or W40k?

Lack of backing or something else?

Hi!

I can't speak of most "fanatic" games, but in the case of epic it is most definitely a lack of "backing". We must remember that once upon a time epic WAS a core game. Albeit a "junior" to 40k and warhammer, but a core game with full support in WD and game releases on a routine basis.

Epic can and once did sell and had reached a good degree of popularity, it all came crashing down after the release of epic40k, which GW did not really support only in the lamest of terms. The once core game whithered on the vine because of this.

It takes money to make money. It's a maxim most people in business understand, but GW is not willing to commit the resources that epic needs to be a success.

Epic is just a "fringe" game because GW, not the fans have made it so.

Unfortunately, yet again, we see the tell tail signs of lack of genuine support and "backing".

It should be no surprise when this new edition also meets the same fate.

Blimey! Didn't expect this much interest! ?

The main rules can be downloaded from this URL:

I have a half written background for a campaign hidden deep in my hard drive- if you like we could resurrect it and use it as background for this campaign if it gets up.  Should save you some work at least...
