Hi!
Good move doing it in this fashion. Anyone can just visit the thread to confirm its veracity and that of the names.
I think it would be good for those members who regularly post to sign up since it has increased legitimacy that way.

Just read a large part of this thread and after having read war and peace aswell all in the same afternoon I have to say I didn't realise things had got so bad on the EA board. It sounds like I dropped off the board around the right time.

As I have said, 3-4 or 5-6 months from now, once E-A is released in some form or another, the official E-A boards may take on less relevance.
However the dicussion will probably gravitate around the "errata" of the "hard-copy" rules. Which is inevitable... I still have an Epic Mag subscription, so I hope we'll see some good stuff there. ?
Based on what I see in W/D - Warmaster, Blood Bowl, =][=, etc., get a page or less for advertising. ?
So we should not expect any better for E-A. ?
Jervis admits that marketing for E40K was "poor", I'm not sure if E-A's is much better? ?
At least you can still buy Epic from G/W US. Where G/W UK thought stopping Epic sales until after the release of E-A was a "good" idea? ?
The Epic saga continues... ?

Err, sorry this is not a petition entry...
I was mostly agreeing with most of the points previous posters made, and I myself felt several time a bit irritated by the moderator of the official forum.
But it seems to me that he made quite some efforts in the lasts weeks (maybe due to those discussions!) and I think he doesn't deserve to be stripped of this status.
He certainly make efforts and have some capabilities for the job. For those reasons, I don't want to "sign" such a petition, while not necessarily disaproving it.
I also understand Maksim (and others) POV, and certainly think that Maksim would be a good moderator (he certainly prove to be a good one here so...).
I would be more inclined to sned an E-mail to PG (I personally plan on sending one), stating those opinions and I would suport having Maksim as a second moderator. This would probably balance the possibility of excess from PG (which I repeat, I haven't seen in the last few weeks) while not being a "punishment," which I think he doesn't deserve yet about this.

Athmos,
If you don't want to sign a petition, then don't. This wasn't meant to discuss whether or not this needed to be done. This is the result of those discussions we already had. Besides, give the moderator a couple of weeks and things will return to their previous state again.

Athmos and Gandalf,
Besides, give the moderator a couple of weeks and things will return to their previous state again. |
I wrote PG and so have others. Keith and Jervis have also been written a number of E-mails.
In fact, Jervis has been written enough E-mails at this point that he is sending "standard responses" to anyone E-mailing him about the moderator situation.
I originally thought that if we just let PG know what was going on that he would eventually improve. He has to a degree...
The problem is that he lapses as fast as he improves and it's very little progress.
I had a lot of patience before, but I don't any longer.
He is showing to have a repeated pattern of returning to the same moderator behaviors that the great majority of posters are adverse to (even if they won't do much about it). I no longer want to have to put up with it. I think it is unreasonable for posters TO have to put up with it.
So I created the petition (after extensive discussion here and through private E-mails with most of the top posters at the E-A Playtest Boards) as a passive (and peaceful) way of saying that we care and we would like changes. It's not a demand, a personal attack on the moderator, or even intended to be punishment (punitive action) against him.
The petition is meant to enact reform and have a more pleasant moderator installed. I don't think PG should leave the boards; he's a great playtester, but it doesn't seem as if arbitrating other's disagreements and posts is his best talent. I'm not certain that it's one of my talents either (especially on an E-forum).
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi!
I know we have made many arguments one way or another, but my initial hesitancy was, as I suspect is happening, that Jervis will do "nothing" about it. Why should he? The actual rules are pretty much done so I dont think it will rank high in priority for "things to do" for Jervis.
In the end the REAL culprit was the poor policy of assigning moderatorship to a "number" (ie. highest amount of posts) instead of an individual suited for the job.
Frankly its too late in the game for those with the power to change things to care enough to do it. It stinks, I know, but reality is seldom pretty.
Let the petition stand and lets see how long it gets, but let's not be too disappointed with nothing happens.

Just out of curiousity, what was Jervis response Maksim? I never heard anything from it.

I think Primarchs right on this. With the rules increasingly 'set in stone' Jervis is less and less active on the board and it ceases to sevre the same role as it did early on when our feedback really made a difference. One of the driving forces for participating on EA playtest board for me was the privelege of helping to shape the next edition of rules for our fravourite hobby. I'm not saying that the board is completely defunct but since opening to the public and the neccessary introduction of a moderator it is beginning to resemble the othe GW boards.

Hmmm... That's odd... P/G seems to be ...well... gone! If you look at the Playtesters Forum all posts by him is now signed N/A and he doesn't appear in the members section any longer either.
