If you go by ForgeWorld then LatD would fit together with the DKoK in a supplement. But FW makes no CSMs for the upcoming IA volumes so far but Adeptus Mechanicus is hinted.

There will be Chaos Marine releases.

Specifically I know there are going to be some God-specific Terminators.

Is it a good idea to follow FW steps in this? Mainly as they then are going to write the background and that would leave very little for us to do. And we would be unable to make copies of that text either.

I'm only for following FW in this because it gives us a good set of involved armies (Chaos Marines, Chaos Guardsmen, Death Korps & Grey Knights).

The setting could easily be changed to Cadia, for example, and have Cadian Guard as the IG army instead.

But like I say, I'd think this would be a good place to have a DKoK list.

On good side is that if FW is willing to make Epic minis, they would probably follow the types in conjunction to what they make for 40k. Hopefully though Epic minis could include stuff that doesn't exists in 40k (such as Death Wheel and Decimator).

While it's a cert that if they do some Epic Chaos models they'll do some Daemon Engines, I'm not sure how likely they are to do something like the Death Wheel (Which they've had no creative influence on, of course).

Well, I'd be cautiously willing to get on board. Some things to keep in mind:

1) Wait and see what the BL and LATD releases are going to look like. Let's not jump the gun here, maybe they're in "sourcebook" format already?

2) These are seriously big projects and going to take time.

3) Models!! We need pretty, pretty pictures of models, in many cases converted. I am very happy to partake of any Daemon/Alien/Witch-hunter lists being included as the Imperial "answer" to the lists here, but note that actually making a unit for each datafax is no trivial task. For example, I'm sculpting a gun-cutter, but I've been (not) working on it for about a year now. Ditto for many of the other lists here. The most extreme case would perhaps be the Sisters of Battle.

4) Is this going to be submitted to Fanatic or a purely fans-only thing? There are also attendant copyright issues. Do we want to surrender all copyright to GW? What about illustrations?

Some other things to keep in mind:

The Emperor's Children could make a decent opponent for an Eldar variant list (perhaps Ulthwe?), as the servants of Slaanesh.

The Thousand Sons list is Neal's baby and AFAIK pretty well playtested. The Emperor's Children have had limited playtesting but the Death Guard and the World Eaters really haven't had any at all. These are a long way from being ready. They're not even in the vault yet! (It's on my "to do" list...)

The three Inquisition Task Force flavours could either be lumped together or split apart. However, they are big! Each has about 30 datafaxes, although some are common to all three Ordos. I've also got a "Radical Inquisitor" list on the back-burner.

So if we slowly want to work on a Chaos centered Supplement we should probably focus on it for now.

Things that would need to be determined are the focus of the background - the world, the war, the victor (might be interesting to have Chaos be the victor) - and what list are going to be used - Black Legion, L&tD, and Imperial Guard Army.

My Salamanders and DarkAngels armylist could be somewhere included too.

DarkAngels would fit in a BlackCrusade book too due to their hunt for the Fallen.

How many army list do people want per supplement? The more armies the larger the project and the scope of the book.

I'd wager that we should put the Tau book up the dev list - it doesn't need too much work, and the minis are already there for them!

For that book ,I'd say 4 lists would be enough (Tau, Gue'senshi, Elysians, Alaitoc) - it's a good number to go with, keeps things diverse enough to expand the game without going overboard, and allows for a well-written campaign to incorporate each.

(Tau expand in the Third Sphere, Elysians - and Imperial and Ork armies shown in previous supplements - try to get in the way, Gue'senshi take their first actions as part of the Empire in the wake of the 3SE, and the Alaitoc mysteriously strike certain worlds and depart before the Tau even arrive on the scene!)

I had the idea of a supplement with war engine lists:

AMTL, OGBM and that Craftworld with lots of Titans/Superheavy Grav Tanks. We just need to come up with a conflict that involves that forces.

Bob is a BIIIG planet with big and nasty terrain features (include some rules for big and nasty terrain features and how they interacts with war engines?) with the classic long lost webway portal and some Orcs that have ended up there after their Rock went out of control and crash landed centuries ago.

Following up on an old report from an AD Mech survey of planet Bob that reported high concentrations of Implausium? ore at the poles, an expedition was sent to re-survey the deposits.  Seeing as how planet Bob is so big and inhospitable, it wasn't surprising that the local Orcs were missed.  Mining operations then commenced and it was a shuttle pilot ferrying a load of Implausium? ore to an orbiting freighter that first noticed a Gargant mob moving across the landscape through a rare gap in the sulphur clouds.  Wishing to safeguard their mining operation - and with the Imperium's resources being tied up in the latest White Dwarf 40k campaign (which, conveniently, won't feature Titans) - the AD Mech send out a Titan Legion to Bob to deal with those meddling Orcs (who are preventing them from getting away with it.)

As the AMTL engage the OGBM (who have stopped fighting each other since there's now someone else to fight)  the mining operation inadvertently stumbles upon the webway portal and the attention of what-ever-craftword-it-is-that-has-lots-of-big-toys turns towards the strife on Bob....

Or something.

I'd say 3-4 lists per sourcebook is about right.

1 'major' list which introduces an entirely new race (Eldar for Swordwind, for example).

2-3 'minor' lists, which will either be variants of pre-existing armies (Like Death Korps Guard for example), or a list with only a few new options (Such as a Daemonhunters list, which would mostly have options from lists that already exist, so wouldn't need many datafax pages).

Chaos or not, I'd still say that us Tau-fans should start laying the ground work for Third Sphere.

But then, I would say that.
