Quote (primarch @ 13 2003 Sep.,22:34) | Hi!
I once heard "communism" was just a longer more painful route to reach capitalism....
Primarch |
I am going to regret saying this. But I'm still going to say it...
There is a reason why "Capitalism" works somewhat better than "Communism". Capitalism is based on the premise of human selfishness and greed. Because this basic foundation of human nature has been got right, and built upon, it works.
Communism, OTOH, makes the same mistake as the humanistic philosophy, namely thinking that there are totally unselfish human beings around. The thing practiced in Soviet Union, however, ?should be called "Red Fascism" as that is a far more accurate description of it.
That said, I don't give pure capitalism high marks either for the simple reason that it _is_ based on human selfishness and greed. Certainly I don't belive for a second that the so-called "market forces" automatically provide what is good for people. "Market Forces" tend to give to those who already have and take from those who don't have.
It's a _very_ imperfect world. ?

Well Capitalism works over Communism ... for many reasons, good and bad. ?However being a child of Capitalism all my life, a free market society does give everyone the chance to succeed, in theory. Your opinion is not unusual for many Europeans. It does not upset me, we are use to the criticism ! ? ?Of course Stalin's version of Communism had as much to do with real Communism as bin Laden does with Islam ...

Hi!
Mojarn, no need to be apologetic, thats EXACTLY the reason capitalism works. Any economic or government model that does not take into account the "natural" drives of the human being is doomed to faliure. Communism and most "socialist" movements don't work precisely because people want "things" usually more than they really need. As a race we have not yet evolved past our base and petty deires for "our own good" instead of whats good for our race in general.
If you like "trueisms" here's a couple more:
Communism is capitalism for the few....
Democracy only grants an illusion of freedom, power is still held by but a few powerful interest groups....
My rights as an individual end when there is no longer anything to profit from them....
My neighbors rights begin when they do not impinge on my profits or selfish needs....

Epic 40,000 gets even more of our beautifully detailed models 'de-bigulated' when we release a Skyray and Orca for the Tau, a Thunderbolt for the Imperial Navy and a promise of special troop types and characters too. There have been a few rumours on the 'net about us making a big Bloodthirster. Well they are all untrue. We are making a MASSIVE Bloodthirster, which at the moment has an axe which is roughly twice the height of a Space Marine Dreadnought. I think that counts as MASSIVE, don't you?
>> That is it for E40k - now I gotta go or I will late for the date :S AGAIN.

Yes, I just read the NL and I knew sooner or later they'd release the Tau Skyray AAA Vehicle plus I look forward to the Orca. ?At this point, you could have a Tau & Kroot Epic Army, before '07 or '08 ! ?And of course, I look forward to the T/bolt and even more so to the Special Troops and characters. ?I hope F/W continues in this direction, mostly new and unique stuff ... not another version of something we already have too many versions of ! ?

The only problem I have is that with FW prices for the TAU infantry you'd not only get the army but be bankrupt also. The vehicles are not so expensive.

Actually the vehicles aren't bad at all - E40k prices for some of them. 3 for a fiver.
And I love the Basilisk model - so much better than the Armoured Basilisk junk they are doing for Epic:A.

I too read the newsletter and became intrigued. I am looking forward to new Epic models, and an Orca will be so cool! As for special characters, wasn't there talk of a Yarrick and Gazkhull? They would fit in well with Epic:A, and look very cool!
Cheers
Chris

I have all the Epic F/W Tau & Kroot, as well as all of the F/W Epic IG, Orks and 'Nid Harridan plus most of the Epic buildings. A bit pricey ... but I sell off my extras !

I would agree with you Tom, just depends on how much they go for, it will be interesting what Ewen has to say in next weeks newsletter if that was really the schedule that they are keeping to.

Hi!
That is my complaint too. Tau vehicles are priced okay, but the infantry is WAY too expensive.
