Oh you know that's never going to change, right? You'll -always- have unbuilt stuff, I'm sure! It's still a beautiful thing to see a project in that 'ongoing' state. More pictures please (especially of painted stuff!), if it won't disturb the actual doing too much that is.

hey,

Just a quick update, did not get to do an all out multiplayer gigantic game yet, but decided instead to get back into it by playing a small 2000 pts game. I chose to do the standard tournament format as I wanted to show all the tactical goodness and how modern the mechanics are for a 15 year old ruleset. I was remembering how to play and teaching it to three club members (some of which had played plenty of 2nd edition in the 90's).

Needless to say we had a great time, and we did'nt screw up the rules too much.

Whitin minutes players were in the zone trying to make their army work, while it is pretty straighforward for the Orks, the Marine player had to struggle with the tricky coordination of his attacks.

Here's the lists used, totally vanilla stuff chosen by me, wanted to have a bit of everything and not get too much in trouble ruleswise.

SM

THUNDERHAWK [200]

TERMINATOR [350]
4 Terminators

LAND SPEEDER [200]
5 Landspeeder

DEVASTATOR [325]
4 Devastators, Rhinos, Hunter

LAND RAIDER [325]
4 Land Raiders

TACTICAL [350]
6 Tacticals, Rhinos, Hunter

BIKE [200]
5 Bike Unit

SCOUT [150]
4 Scouts

ORKS

FIGHTA SKWADRON [150]
3 Fighta Bomba

KULT OF SPEED [200]
2 Skorcha, 6 Warbike

WARBAND (BIG) [350]
4 Nobz, 12 Boyz, 4 Grotz

WARBAND (BIG) [350]
4 Nobz, 12 Boyz, 4 Grotz

GARGANT [650]
Warlord

BLITZ BRIGADE (BIG) [250]
6 Gunwagon, 2 Flakwagon

BLITZ BRIGADE [150]
3 Gunwagon, Flakwagon

It ended with the Orks getting every victory goals except DTF and TSNP.
The best part: the Marine player wants a rematch at 3000 pts. Great!

Cheers,

Al

When i have spoken to people about the game they are very interested in titans. So maybe adding a warhound to each side, for minigeddon? That would show rules for shields as well.

Know the orks dont use warhounds, but a stompa with warhound stats could do, and clearly telilng them that it is not an official model.

Well we had a Gargant :),
and with the fighter-bombers it was actually an illegal list, but i thought it would be cool so I included it anyways.

But you're right, it needs Warhounds/Titans. will do that next game.

I've been playing lots of different games over the last few years, whatever the mechanics, models, how shiny or not the ruleset is, one thing this game gets right is the space to manoeuvre, the model/ground scale and the theme.
Epic doesn't feel like "demolition tank derby". In contrast, I'm currently painting dozens of 15mm t-72's for Team Yankee, that on a 4x6 is really sad to see :)
