Hi!

That would be a great idea!

It's been a long time since we had a good epic campaign going.

Primarch

Hmmm...I'd be very interested.  You could set up a campaiugn with different commanders for different fronts etc.  That way there would be a proper Chain of Command and orders can be passed to "go take that system etc".  Could be very cool...

Any room for any more players then? :p

Hi!

I would think there would be space for everyone who wants to participate, but I'll let Netepic put it together if he's so inclined.

Sure- I think there could get some interest from here, especially as everyone keeps saying they have nobody to play against! :;):

Here are some outline rules I suggested for night fighting a while ago on the EA boards.

normal LOS limited to 30cm except for units with night vision (eg. all SM units, flyers and Titans/Gargants) it could also be available as an upgrade to certain units (eg. stromtroopers, armoured companies).

normal units        units with night vision
0-30cm    -1 to hit              normal shooting
30cm+      no shooting         -1 to hit

This does not apply to shooting against warmachines as they would be a bit hard to miss still.

Bombardments and other indirect fire are unafected. Illumination parachute flares could be fired instead of a bombardment or dropped by flyers to allow other units to shoot at one enemy formation as normal the effect lasting for the rest of the turn.

I would also suggest some sort of morale effect. Additional -1 to initiative for units regrouping/rallying in the end phase unless there is a freindly unbroken formation within 30cm?

This online campaign your proposing, how is it going to work?

Is it basically a campaign based on the results of e-mail games?

I'd imagine it would take an awful long time just to complete 1 email game let alone a whole campaign. Please enlighten me or at least point me in the way on enlightenment (give me a link to some rules).

Hi!

I think it's more along the lines that you play the game and report the results and it is added to everyone elses results to see the overall outcome of the campaign.

Blimey! Didn't expect this much interest!

The main rules can be downloaded from this URL:

http://www.netepic.org/EOTS/EOTS.PDF.

I will try to web enable it at the w/e depending on the pub scene. (I am skint! So programming is looking like a good option...).

There would be no actual games of Epic, regiments and fleets would instead be comprised of points which would only be roughly translated into army lists for the purpose of combat reports, EG: An IG regiment could attack a SM regiment, lose 20 men to the marines 10 and still count as winning as the number of points they lost would be less.

Bear in mind at the beginning it will be a quick and dirty database front end with only very basic security.

I will tidy it up and add some nice graphics and the dice rolling as soon as possible. With two people it is easy to use PBEM's dice roller, but with more it is just easier to write an automated module to handle all of that.

Hi!

Actually netepic, I'd revise the Epicentre links, there are quite a few of them that dont work.

Looking into it now, I will be link fixing tonight so hope to rectify any issues - I will provide a report on the number of broken links tomorrow. We have many thousands of links there will never be 100% perfect linking, but I try to keep it to 97%-98% secure links. (Some are programming issues and will never be seen by the naked eye, others are just me being an idiot :)).

About the original question (what would you like to see)...

- Apart from the Titan specialised system (which I think everyone would want to see if only because the basic system don't allow Titan customisation).

- I would want to see rule for amphibious/naval operation (Orks coming from giant submarines at Hive Tempestora for "historical" example in Armageddon background), be it "Operation Overlord" type, or representing battleship giving fire support from the coastline, or even allowing fighting with some overcraft and boats in swampy maps full of rivers and swamp area.

- The future "Air combat" system may interest me but I'm not very impatient about it.

- I would also like to see ruleset for special environments like low gravity or, on the contrary, very high gravity worlds, and also some special hostile worlds rule with a set of interactive features on the map.

- For example the jungle hostile world with various giant carnivorous plant/animals (from giant strangling vine to a lone T-rex roaming near your infantry company via the well known "sorry this bush was actually carnivorous" stuff, or huge groups of migrating dinosaurs, and so on).

- Or the volcanic hostile world with lava streams, earthquakes and sudden geyser of boiling sulfur, Or the radioactive vitrified world with mutant hordes suddenly attacking or burst of radiation...

- In short I would want a ruleset to add some interactivity to the board itself. Then your army would have to step carefully, and some "neutral attack" could strike at the two armies anytime. a well done rule set for that would certaonly be very appealing to me, especially if it can achieve the goals of remaining fluid, not too unabalancing that the game would become too much random and not requiring a GameMaster to work (which would stand many pairs of player to use it).

- And I would like good detailed campaign/crossover rules, as it would allow to play some campaign with players you didn't know (and share your houserules with). I think in particular about a "map based campaign", where you would be moving your armies from here to there to represent a whole war, battle by battle.

Athmos.

Hi!

Those are not bad statistics for the site netepic. We should get together and update some fo the files though.
