Okay, "realistic" was a very bad choice of words.  You're totally right.  They'd never just release the sprues without the other army bits.  I should have said "technically feasible" or something along those lines.

But the thing is, that's exactly what they did with the Chaos infantry, so why would Tyranids be any different?

But, alas, I believe you are all correct, probably nothing for Epic. One can always hope.

My thought exactly. GW could make a killing on re-releasing just the Tyranid sprue.

i sadly disagree

if they could use existing form then sure
but if they would need to make new mould for it - they would newer break ewen on it, not talking about earning a penny

But it would be cool newer the less

The difference is that for Chaos nearly everything else is available from current IG or SM lines with a few minor conversions, or none at all.  The only thing missing is the daemon engines and some of those aren't terribly difficult to convert from existing minis.  Even in that situation it still took a huge amount of convincing of Andy and Jervis to allow the release and to make the lists official.  That fight was part of what delayed the lists for so long.

Nids would be unworkable with just the infantry sprues in production.

I guess the only things we will get back are the plastik ruins sprue, the bases and a new print-run of the Epic Rulebook and Swordwind with the errata included.

Well not to be too OT ... But ... As I have said before, with the Tac Cmd crew casting, DRM & E/W ... I really don't care if G/W releases anything new, come to think of it ... :;): But I believe E&C holds the information we seek. A couple of you UK guys go over it his house and make him watch Barney and Teletubby reruns until he breaks ... I know ... I know it's draconian ... but we need answers people !  There's a war going on !! :_( 8v)

I'll die before I break!    :))

I reckon that the creation of this catalogue, combined with some of the stuff JJ says in this month's White Dwarf (He talks about potential new SG models to come at some point, not re-releases... I don't think Jervis is given to teasing the fanbase unnesesarily, do you?) / has been quoted as saying elsewhere (For example Moscovian's mini-interview with him at the US Games Day tournament, where he mentions that any future Epic releases are more likely to be metals rather than plastics, IIRC), makes Epic's medium-term future look okay to my squinty eye...

JJ also mentions that if there are any further new miniatures releases for the SG's it'll be reported in White Dwarf.

"Watch this space, as they say!" - Jervis, White Dwarf 345.

All the above is public domain stuff, mostly from this month's White Dwarf.

What makes you think that is going to happen? Did I miss an announcement?

BTW the Canadian GW website has the bases back on the online store now

Oh please please please make the old scavvies, ratskins, orlocks and goliaths available alongside the new atrocities. Sadly, I don't think that will happen.

Strange, considering how their own stock market release states that raw materials only constitute 5% of total expenses.

Perhaps metal molds have some sort of other extra overhead? Having toured Reaper, seems doubtful.

Metal increased costs could realistically be bumped by a combination of increased shipping costs and and inflation (which are closely tied to begin with).

Jervis did mention hypothetically that metals would be the way to go for any new production because the plastics just cost too much.  They are great for large runs but for smaller runs the heavy stuff works better (it's counter-intuitive unless you know the process).

Good to hear that the hypothetical might be turning into a reality. Keep us posted!
