I, too, voted for 'Nids, but my initial thought was Khorne. I've seen a Khorne army do serious damage in close combat. On the other hand, in the last game I played against 'Nids, my army SM/TL got sliced up from the combined firepower of 5 bio-titans! I had expected the usual unstoppable horde, hell bent for close in action. Needless to say, I was quite surpised!

It keeps the opponents guessing. The player who did this was smart. Next time you will have to plan for both.
In any event, you will need to kick his hind end next time for the Honor of the Imperium.

Yep ! The way G/W designed the Bugs you don't have much choice ... but we're working on fixing that. So far, have never really been satisfied with the 'Nid OOBs ...

Hi. I dont actually see the bugs as the army that must rush into cc anymore. They have a selection of deadly weapons which makes them nasty in a ff as well.

Hi!
I agree on your terrain analysis. Play on a barren field and ANY close combat army will be decimated. Play on a terrain packed with trees and mountains and you probably cant avoid losing to a close combat army either.
Thats why I like random terrain placement rules. At least players can't plan ahead with terrain features they dont know before hand.

I have never thought that the rules accurately reflect the courage required to stand and face a chitting horde rushing at you intent on devouring you...

Hi!
Morale rules are something highly abstracted in all GW games. In Heresy I used a DSII like morale system which would require such checks.

Terrain is a critical factor in wargames (and the real thing !). Mixed to Closed works for us. We are looking at morale/leadership rules and SM1/SM2E40K all had weaknesses ... I'll be studying E:A more closely ...
