Hmmm... Just a quick thought: The Goliath might be a cool Squatachan Deathstrike proxy. I think most targets would be in pretty bad shape after taking a direct hit with one of those shells (no matter how they are loaded). As for the precision: I guess there's a specially advanced ballistic targetting system which makes it as accurate as a deathstrike missile...
Just a thought... :;):

Cheers! :)

Warmaster, I LIKE that sort of reasoning!  :D  :D  :D

Markconz - with the Deathstrike out of the equation, I'd go for the Bombard - again, for the model! Hopelessly unstrategic....  :{

Ok so yes they all have their tactical uses - but which choice would people take to a tournament say, or use most often?

The impression I get with EA is that Manticores are the most popular...?

I thought I had already answered that in my earlier post. Given that I could only have one, I would take the Basilisk.

The Basilisk offers a good "all-around" choice that tournament play often needs.

The Goliath would probably be breach loaded like a rail gun or even heavy mortar. There would be support vehicles for this. A loader and ammo carriers ("V", sounds like a modeling project for your skills !) ? ? ?:D ?Deathstrike stats would be a good "count as", IMO. ?However it should be also "slow firing", like any other heavy FA. ? ? ?:;):

I have never been a fan of the Manticore - mostly because there has never been a mini that I have liked, and partly because it is in most situations just over-kill. The Hydra would be my first choice, if I had to choose, but it does not count as Artillery. So, between the Basilisk and Bombard, I think that I would need to go for the Basi just because I dont like Slow Firing Artilery (although the Bombard mini is very cool). To be honest, my favourite above all has always been the Griffon. Dont know why, just the BP with a higher speed makes it a very flexible unit.

Although I agree with you, I think the fun of the question is n thinking like; What if you could only have one. Then it makes you think.

OK, if you are going to tie me down to a single hull type, its gotta be the Basilisk.  A general purpose Indirect fire support platiofrm that can effect any target I like.  maybe not optimally, but it will do something, if only make the enemy pause

No problem, I get to where I do not even know what I have and have not answered.  :O

In any case, It is a good question. I have often thought about what I would bring to a Tournament. When I do, it often comes down to formations and units I believe that offer the most flexability in their role/function.

Great, that means I am at least as smart as a first year female cadet.  :laugh:

I hardly ever field my Manticores....my opponents tend to see them and go "AAAAAAGGGHHH!!!  MANTICORES!  I MUST STOMP THEM FIRST!"  and proceed to kill them off.  Sigh.

All High Value Targets (like Titans, FA, SH/AFVs, etc.) draw (lots of) fire and usually don't last that long ... such is war ! :;):
