I don't really see the mini's being the problem. I see rules and force lists as being it.
We need strict underlaying lists for people to have a starting look at.
Someone will now say something about intentions. And they worked, as long as GW held the rudder. (And moneybag...) And those appointed to stay at the rudder (while JJ got a nap and took off...) are brilliant people, no doubt!
The intentions of having force lists instead of army lists worked, as long as the owner had the last say. Now no one really has that. And we consequently only have the
army lists of EA and SW.
Yes, we have a plethora of really good force lists all over the place. But not the staple food of gaming, competitive (balanced) rules. We are playing war
games, not war
re-enactment. We need balance. And we might have that, but we don't have credibility. Not the credibility that ensure a new player to spend ~£178 for an "army".

I play Imperial Guard, I have always played Imperial Guard. I can't play Imperial Guard in netERC, 'cause there's no such thing here. There's Steel Legion and there's Siege Masters and there's Elysian and there's... But nowhere can I find what ensure me, what gives me surety, to spend upwards (and above!) £200.
