You could give JJ the advanced proof at least. :)

OK Mosc

A quick check on the USPS Calculator suggests that we will probably need to consider using 'Express mail International' with a delivery schedule of 5 days. This means that we need the books printed and shipped by COB Friday 20th in order to reach London a week later for the tournament.

Assuming 18 copies at a combined weight of 20lbs (including packaging etc) this requires $105.25 postage, or ~$5.85 each,
If it is any later, we will have to use 'Global Express Guaranteed' - 3 days schedule at a cost of $167 or ~$9.30 each

But don't send the postage money to anyone yet! Lets see how things pan out

In any case, the timing is going to be tight for the UK tournament. ?They require 10 days minimum to print which puts the shipment going out on June 16th (the closest business day). ?I requested 2-day shipping which ate into the proceeds some but with that I'll have them in hand hopefully on June 18th and then I'll turn it around on June 19th. ?

To save time and effort on your part, did you explore the possibility of asking the printer to ship it direct to us?

I am waiting for them to open up (business is located in Texas).  I have several questions for them including the possibility of having them ship it out directly.  It certainly would save time and money.

Well, I just placed the order for 75 books.

75 - that's awesome! Raiders looks great, even in your pics. I guess I'll have to send my 25 bucks so I can be a part of the second batch.

Don't send the money, DS.  Wait till I come up to CT - it will be easier and will save on the Paypal costs ($1.26).

FYI I only have 56 books spoken for, but I can cover the remainder of the cost.  I am thinking that by the time the books arrive, an additional 20 orders will have stacked up.

Ginger, I spoke with the owner of the printing company and he'll be working out the cost of shipping directly to the UK for me.  He doesn't get a discount but it still might save us money compared to dog-legging the shipment via Allentown, PA.  Answers by tomorrow.

smashing, that should just about keep us onschedule for the cheaper postage rate. I presume you told him that "time is of the essence" here.

Oh yes.  I explained that the deadlines I gave him are hard dates and not exaggerations.  I'm dealing with three tournament deadlines: yours, Baltimore, and Connecticut.  The cover problems I had really screwed my timeline.

I also asked if they could last-minute switch the cover from matte to glossy but I don't know if that will be cost effective or feasible with the time we have.  It all depends on how they are set up over there.

I do not believe I will have copies ready for the Baltimore Tournament. ?:( ? I requested a small number be shipped prior to the tourney so I can get them to the folks that requested them plus Jervis but I don't think it will happen.

I wasn't going to go for this, but it looks so nice I need a copy!  :D

If you happen to get any advance copies and you happen to have another going begging, would it be possible for me to buy one from you at Baltimore?

LI, I have requested 5 copies for Baltimore.  The print + ship time is going to be tight but it is not impossible.  If I get them it will cover Corey, Steve, Jervis, you, and one more person.  I didn't want to order more than that because the shipping costs will start to stack up and eat into the proceeds.

Okay, well - I need to see whether I have the funds anyway as my university decided I didn't need to get paid this pay period, so don't feel bad if you have someone else to give it to. So how much would I need to give you for it?

$25 flat.  No shipping (unless you consider my gas money to be part of the shipping). :p  No worries if you can't swing it - there are enough orders to go around.  It will be a good way to save on the shipping charges though (roughly $5).

If you want to increase your order, or if anyone else wants to pick their copy up from me in London, please let Moscovian and I know right now!

For those who have not yet paid, please forward $25 per copy to Moscovian (details at the top of the thread). As before, we will check on the final postage costs and let you know the amount shortly and where to send it (Tim, we will sort out the discrepancy as part of this).

Update: I was able to have the book covers re-done for all 75 (at a cost of $45 or $0.60 each).  Once again this cuts into the proceeds but it is a mistake that won't occur again.  It turns out I screwed it up on the original order and didn't double check.  I'm annoyed with myself. :glare:

The production is DONE on the books surprisingly and even with replacing the covers we're ahead of schedule.  What that means for the tournaments:
1. Baltimore Games Day will have at least 10 copies available plus the ones pre-payed.
2. NEAT Tournament (CT) will have at least 10 copies available plus the ones pre-payed.
3. UK Tournament will have the 18 copies pre-payed plus 2 more inbound.

I will have the UK shipping cost either later today or tomorrow.  Because they are so far ahead on the prints it means that the shipping costs will probably be lower (can send them slower).  We shall see.
