Quote (Legion 4 @ 06 2004 Sep.,05:09) | GHQ does nice stuff ! But it might be a bit small for Epic ? |
maybe a bit, but since GHQ is 1/285 rather than 1/300 it's better than the "actual" 6mm. Hmm, I have some GHQ tanks (which have been sitting in my storage since 1988 when I bought them from Seattle ) I could take a comparsion pic of a PzIV, A Tiger, a King Tiger and, say, a Maus with a Leman Russ.

Yes, that is a good idea Mojarn, if you can dig them up. From what I remember they were smaller, for the reason you stated. But G/W & F/W play fast and loose with scale, anyway ...

Hi!
GHQ models are to small, when compared to GW epic figures.

Primarch | Not just too small, but the overall feel is off. GW tends to exagerate the scale where GHQ tends to use more "small detail".
See the following pictures.

Oh, darn I thought I had fouind the perfect models (even if expensive ones!) and you just wasted my idea dudes hehe. No, seriously, this _is_ a drawback. Will have to search again. probably will find other suitable stuff, but with much less detail.

Wow! Qite a difference in scale, you are right guys. So maybe it would be better to search for 10 mm minis for the tanks then,. Looks like the GW ones are too big to represent them with 6mm realistic models....

Quote (Xavi @ 06 2004 Sep.,20:41) | Wow! Qite a difference in scale, you are right guys. | And it gets worse when you start to talk WWII tanks. But to be honest I am not trying to be a bummer on your plan, just I want you to know what you are getting into.

Well, you have been a bummer indeed But that is not a biggie. I have not ordered them yet. I simply have to find a company that makes slightly larger tanks, so that the GW (rather bad) proportions hold. This, or ordering infantry and other armour from smaller scales as well.
The Abrahams (sp?) looks good enough in scale, but the problem happens with the chimera there: it is too big when compared to transports from other companies, and looks huge when compared to the abrahams I suppose.
Regards,
Xavi

Quote (Xavi @ 06 2004 Sep.,21:08) | This, or ordering infantry and other armour from smaller scales as well. | I think this is part of the thing you need to think about.
1) Does my whole army match? If you do not try to mix GW with other "scales" of minis, it is not so bad.
2) Once I field the army, will it matter? By this I mean, I do not look at the size differance between my IG and the Bugs for example. Or my own Eldar even. If your whole army flows, it should be OK.
3) How big of a hurry am I in to get everything I want? If you want GW and keep an eye on ebay there are deals to be had. I just won an auction that had 10 Leman Russ tanks, three IG Fighters, an Ordinatus Armageddon, some Titans (half missing weapons, a broken imperator titan, and a small mix of "broken stuff" for under $50.
If you have the time, you can buy GW on ebay for less.
Just some thoughts.

Although you may not be impressed with the Tau, some of the Stealth Suit models are exactly what you are describing. In fact, I may save some money and use them myself.
Cheers.
