@semajnollissor - It's a good thought - I may well add a link to SOL. I'm still up for adding your bits if you have good photos and a contact link I can use?

Just to say great update on the site! Really, really useful. I've made a 'new player' guide over on the Dakka forums so will link there this too if that's OK?

Just one piece of feedback - If I select a faction and then a particular entry (example: ork boyz) when I use the back button it takes me straight back to the main homepage where I need to select a faction again. Otherwise very easy to use and I think the new layout is a definite improvement!

@Pacific

Thanks, I'm glad you find it useful! By all means link from wherever you like.

Yes, there are a couple of quirks that need to be ironed out (the other is selecting all/all produces no results). I will endevour to sort them out when I can, but I can't make any promises on time-scale :P

It really is a great site - and good to see the player finder appearing on there too, can see that being very popular!

Ok, here's a question. It has been suggested the FW Gargants on this page:
https://miniwars.co.uk/epic-40k/miniatu ... t-gargant/

...Are not from FW after all. I thought(read?) they were some kind of limited unofficial run from them, but it has been suggested the Gargants existed before FW did. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Those were around waaay before FW came into existance. I forget the full details but they were limitedly available back in the 1980s.

My understanding was that they were armor cast, although CCM now has them listed as made by Monolith (never heard of em). I own both, one of which has a manufacturer's sticker/label on the base, but dont have immediate access to it right now.

Under stompa, you have the RT runtbot listed as a stompa – it's commonly used as a metal stompa, but is a 28mm RT proxy. There were metal SM2 stompa, but they are different (though similar looking minis), of which one is moderately uncommon. The runt bot as stompa proxy may in-fact be more common than 'real' SM2 metal stompas, but they do exist.

I notice your Great Gargant listing is otherwise incomplete. Though they share many components the original 1980s metal Great Gargant looked different to the 2nd edition Epic metal Great Gargant.

1st ed one had a large ‘Stokers platform’ sticking out of the back that the 2nd ed model dropped.
2nd ed one had a redesigned top layer with resculpted details for some reason.
2nd ed one had 3 new weapons the original didn’t have.

Compare these two photos from the old catalogues and you’ll see what I mean:
1st ed: http://www.solegends.com/citcat1991a/ca ... ant-00.jpg
2nd ed: http://solegends.com/citcat1995-6/cat19956p173-00.jpg

The photo you’re using for the second ed Gargant is a conversion too which isn’t ideal, maybe use a photo of the stock model instead? That one has a handful of fairly signifiant conversions and a weapon swap with 40k multi meltas.

Thanks, both. All information welcome - my aim is to get the database as complete and accurate as possible over time.

I'll revist the Gargant, Glyn. Variants can be problematic as I'd never be able to find satisfactory pictures of all of them (numerous e40k variants of all kinds of models especially), but those you note are significantly different. Conversions not ideal either, I'm often finding the best picture I can and not taking notice of those details! I'll see what else I can find.

Hi all, just a note to say the Wargame Player Finder is back!
https://miniwars.co.uk/wargame-player-finder/

The TC faithful will remember it, and if you had an account on the previous version it's still there. I sent emails to those accounts with a link to update your gaming prefs / location if applicable.

This version is sleeker, more scaleable, and simpler to manage. Hopefully all the improvements will help the number of users will grow (and therefore the usefulness of the service) fairly quickly.

Any questions, please first read https://miniwars.co.uk/wargame-player-finder/faq/.

Welcome! Reminds me, I need to paint those wonderful Eldar objectives you sent me about 7 years ago. I do have plans for them, I promise ;D
