I read that some years ago, and frankly thought it was so awful that it turned me off warhammer fiction for years.

I've recently acquired the first half-a-dozen volumes of the Horus Heresy series; That on the other hand is rather good, especially if you like Space Marines. No Tyranids, of course... There's a lot of good origins stories there, very inspirational I thought.

i believe i have 2 copies of Hive War, the old SM2/TL edition Nid book. its not quite up to date on GW fluff (though it is closer than Space Marine, it's dropped zoats, but there are no raveners and the heirodules are different)
if you'd like, and i'm not mad, i'd be happy to sell you my spare rulebok ^_^

I do have hive war, so Ill start with that, but thanks for the offer.

was wondering if there was any fluff created around the Armageddon timeline. Since the main rulebook only has marines, IG, orks that I can tell so far.

Well, that's what was on Armageddon.

3rd edition 40K codices were around that time (as was the 3rd edition rulebook). It depends what you want to know.

I much prefer it to the 'expanded flavour text' approach of the more recent BL novels myself, I like the internal monologue and overall feel of it personally, but each to their own!

Info on Nids? Buy the 4th edition Codex: Tyranids on ebay. Or buy the 4th edition rulebook and read all the little blurbs.

Well, I need to get around to actually getting my passport. But sure. Could be fun.

I only play E:A (sorry ) and have a bunch of Space Marines and some Guard equivalents. I am hoping to acquire enough Eldar to field a decent army of them (I'm getting close) and have some Orks who are currently the lowest priority project of all. And there's a bunch of Titans.

Not many pictures at the moment - I'll be doing the Tale of Epic Gamers thing, which will finish up a few armies - I'll have some nice pictures after that.

no need to be sorry, from what Ive read they seem to be a nice set, no reason I cant play both.

I need a passport to now, I havent gotten one yet so no trips up North since that changed.

I have SM and Orks from 2nd edition box set, and some extras, whirlwinds, stompas etc.., plus some eldar grav tanks and infantry. working on nids for my son.
